How To Root Realme XT & Unlock Bootloader (Root Guide)

Realme XT – Details

Realme XT features a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED full HD+ display with 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution. Unlike Realme X, it has dewdrop notch instead of a pop-up camera. The device runs on Android 9 Pie with ColorOS 6 UI out of the box. It is upgradable to Android 10, and the update will start appearing in a month or two after its availability. Realme XT powered with Snapdragon 712 processor with integrated Adreno 616 GPU. It is coupled with 4GB/6GB/8GB RAM options and comes with either 64GB or 128GB internal storage.

On the camera side, the phone has a quad-camera setup at the back. The quad-camera setup includes a 64-megapixel primary camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide sensor, a 2-megapixel depth sensor, and a 2-megapixel macro camera. And at the front, it has a single 16-megapixel camera that can record 1080p videos at 30fps. It boasts a 4000mAh battery with 20W fast charging support.

How to Root Realme XT

Rooting is only possible if your device allows system-level modification, which can be achieved by unlocking the bootloader. After rooting the phone, you will notice an immense increase in performance. But nothing comes for free, and you have to pay the price in the form of disadvantages such as no OTA updates. Before proceeding to the steps first, you need to follow prerequisites.

Warning:

  • You will not receive OTA update after rooting your phone
  • It has a risk to brick your device if you don’t follow the exact procedure
  • Payment apps like PhonePe and GooglePay may not work (Guide to make it work)
  • Widevine L3 will replace Widevine L1

Prerequisites:

  • Take a full backup of your phone
  • Magisk Zip and Magisk Manager APK (Download from here)
  • Install ADB & Fastboot driver on your PC (Follow this guide)
  • Download Realme XT Unlock Tool APK [Android 9] [Android 10]

How to Unlock Bootloader on Realme XT

Step 1) First, update your phone to the latest version available. And enable USB Debugging on your phone. how to root realme XT

Step 2) Download the Unlock Tool and install it on your phone (If this version of Unlock Tool does not work, then you have to wait for the next unlock tool).

Step 3) Open the Unlock Tool and click on the Start Applying button. how to root realme XT

Step 5) The application will be checked on the Realme Server. After a few hours, the Unlock Tool will show ‘Review Successful’. how to root realme XT

Step 7) Go to C:\adb folder and press Shift + Right click and select ‘Open Command window here’ or ‘Open PowerShell window here’.

  • adb reboot bootloader
  • fastboot flashing unlock

  • fastboot reboot

Step 11) Realme XT will enter into in-depth test mode, and it will erase all the data on your phone. So wait for the complete process.

Step 12) Now, the bootloader of Realme XT is unlocked. And you can now root your Realme XT.

Steps to Root Realme XT

Step 1) Download the Stock Firmware for your phone and extract it.

Step 2) Look for boot.img in the extracted folder and copy the boot.img to your phone.

Step 3) Install the Magisk Manager App on your phone and open it.

Step 4) Make sure to update the Magisk Manager if available. Then click on Install beside Magisk, then again select Install. how to root realme XT

Step 5) Now, in the select method, you need to choose ‘Select and Patch a File’. how to root realme XT

Step 6) Browse and locate the boot.img and wait for the patching process. After patching, the output will be saved in the Download folder with name magisk_patched.img.

Step 7) Copy the magisk_patched.img to C:\adb folder in PC. Rename it to boot.img (magisk_patched.img to boot.img).

Step 8) Now Reboot your phone into bootloader mode and connect your phone to the computer.

Step 9) In the C:\adb folder press Shift + Right click on an empty area and select ‘Open Command window here’ or ‘Open PowerShell window here’.

Step 10) In PowerShell/Command window enter the following commands one by one to root Realme XT

  • fastboot flash boot boot.img
  • fastboot continue

Step 11) The phone will now reboot. The first boot can take time, so you have to wait. Once you are in the system, open the Magisk Manager app and perform the steps that it asks.

Step 12) That’s it, now your Realme XT is rooted.

You can now use all the features and apps that required root access. Such as you can take a full backup of your phone using Titanium backup app. After rooting, you can easily install Custom ROMs, Custom Kernels. Also, if you hate pre-installed apps, then you can uninstall those apps.
