How to Root OnePlus 7T

You can root your OnePlus 7T with two methods, and it is your choice to pick the best one according to your requirement. In the first method, you get to know to root OnePlus 7T without TWRP Recovery. And in the second method, we will use the TWRP Recovery to root OnePlus 7T.

You should be aware of all the risk involved in rooting any phone before applying the steps. If you have TWRP Recovery installed on your OnePlus 7T then you can follow the second method. Prerequisites:

Root OnePlus 7T with Magisk Only

Note: If you have the patched boot image then skip step 1 to step 7.

Step 1) Copy the Magisk APK on your phone storage. And install it on your phone.

Step 2) Download Stock ROM for your phone (the same version that is installed on your phone).

Step 3) Now extract the boot.img from the Stock ROM and copy the boot.img to phone storage.

Step 4) Open Magisk Manager on your phone and update it if available.

Step 5) Click on Install (first one) and then again click Install.

Step 6) Now in select method, choose ‘Select and Patch a File’. Browse and locate the boot.img on your phone.

Step 7) It will now patch the boot image, and the output will be saved in Download folder with name patched_boot.img.

Step 8) Now you have the Magisk patched boot image, copy it to your computer (C:\adb). Also, rename it to boot.img.

Step 9) Go to C:\adb and press Shift + Right click on an empty area and select ‘Open PowerShell window here’ or ‘Open Command window here’.

Step 10) Reboot OnePlus 7T into Bootloader Mode. Then connect your phone to PC while in Bootloader Mode.

Step 11) Enter the below command to install Magisk and Root OnePlus 7T.

Step 12) After installing Magisk reboot phone into the System.

Step 13) Open Magisk Manager (install if not there) then follow the steps that Magisk Manager will prompt.

Step 14) The phone will auto reboot, and then you can enjoy the root feature on your OnePlus 7T.

Root OnePlus 7T using TWRP & Magisk

Step 1) Make sure TWRP Recovery is installed on OnePlus 7T.

Step 2) Copy Magisk zip file to the phone storage.

Step 3) Turn off your phone.

Step 4) Long press Power + Volume Down button to boot into TWRP Recovery.

Step 5) In TWRP Recovery go to Install option and locate the Magisk zip.

Step 6) Swipe the slider to flash Magisk and root OnePlus 7T.

Step 7) After successful flashing, go back to TWRP home and select Reboot > System.

Step 8) After reboot open Magisk Manager App. If it is not in the App menu, then install the Magisk Manager APK.

Step 9) In Magisk Manager App, you can update both Magisk Manager and Magisk if available.

Step 10) That’s all, you have now successfully rooted your OnePlus 7T.
