It’s time for Xiaomi’s latest earnings call, and Xiaomi Group President Lu Weibing has confirmed that the company’s next-generation operating system will debut sometime in July or August 2026.
The announcement comes at a critical time, as memory and storage component prices continue to rise globally. Despite these pressures, Xiaomi has confirmed that it does not plan to pass the increased costs on to consumers. Instead, the company will focus on software optimization, AI integration, and product restructuring to maintain profitability while keeping its devices competitive.
Lu Weibing stressed that Xiaomi remains committed to advancing its high-end and globalization strategy, while simultaneously reshaping its mobile phone business with AI at the core. He added that the Super AI tech is a major milestone for Xiaomi this year.
Xiaomi doesn’t confirm the name or branding of the upcoming operating system, but all leaks are pointing to the HyperOS 4.0. The company has confirmed that it will debut around July or August of 2026. The upcoming operating system is set to bring big changes for Xiaomi, Redmi, and Poco-branded devices.
HyperOS 4.0 is expected to undergo a big redesign, which is going to be inspired by Liquid Glass design. Apart from that, the OS will get heavily improved animations, redesigned multi-tasking interface, new changes for launcher, AI-focused system-wide optimizations, smarter contextual AI-focused features, enhancements for HyperConnect ecosystem, more advanced memory management and background optimization, and more.
Xiaomi is expected to launch the next-generation flagship smartphone – the Xiaomi 18 series in July or August, and the company is expected to launch the new phones with the HyperOS 4.0 operating system. Obviously, the company will later push the new OS to eligible devices.
