[Available for Galaxy Z Fold2 5G] Samsung seeds One UI 3.1 Update to Galaxy S20, Galaxy Note 20, and Galaxy Z Series Phones

Last month, Samsung introduced its latest skin – One UI 3.1, along with its newest flagship Galaxy S21. The One UI 3.1 is based on Android 11 OS and packs a slew of new features along with optimizations. After the launch of the Galaxy S21, the company pushed its latest skin for the Galaxy Tab S7.

Now the company has started pushing the latest One UI 3.1 update for Galaxy S20 series, Note 20 lineup, and Galaxy Z Series phones as well. The list includes – the Galaxy S20, S20 Plus, S20 Ultra, Galaxy S20 FE, Galaxy Note 20, Note 20 Ultra, including Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Z Flip. As always, the update will roll out in a staged manner, hopefully, the OTA will be available in the coming weeks.

The newer build on Galaxy S20 is sowing with G981NKSU1DUB6 build number in Korea, while the S20 FE carrying One UI 3.1 OTA with G781BXXU2CUB5 version. As it is a major update, it may require a chunk of data for downloading the OTA.

In terms of changes and new features, then the One UI 3.1 update comes with a list of new camera features including Improved Single Take, Object Eraser, Touch Autofocus and autoexposure controller, and Multi Mic Recording support. Aside from the camera app features, the update also carries Eye Comfort Sheild mode, Private Share, Remove location data, and Auto Switch feature.

Samsung Galaxy S20 One UI 3.1 Update

The Eye Comfort Sheild mode will automatically adjust blue light based on the time. While the Auto Switch feature help users easily switch between connected audio devices such as Galaxy Buds Pro. Although, one of the major highlights of the One UI 3.1 is that, it let users to set Google Discover on home screen. But Samsung hasn’t mentioned whether the feature is available for the afore-listed models or not.

You can try enabling Google Discover on your Galaxy smartphone’s home screen, by following this step.

Samsung Galaxy S20, Note 20, Galaxy Z Series get One UI 3.1 Update

If you’re using the Galaxy S20 series, Note 20 Lineup, or Galaxy Z series phone, then you can now update your device to the One UI 3.1 update. Although, as for now, it is rolling out in different stages. But still, you can check the software updates manually, as there are some times when OTA notification doesn’t arrive.

In case you’ve not received the OTA yet, then you can manually check for updates simply go to Settings, then go to System > Software Update. It will show the available update that you can download and install on your phone.

Note: Before upgrading, make sure to charge your smartphone to at least 30%, also take a backup which will be beneficial in case of failure.

You can also download the firmware for your Galaxy smartphone manually once it is available on Samsung’s server, by following the below tips.

If you’re in a haste, then you update your device manually, using Frija tool, SamFirm tool, or SamMobile website. If you are using one of the tools then enter your model and country code and download the firmware. Once downloaded, you can flash the firmware using Odin Tool. Then flash the file to your device. If you want to do so, then I recommend you take a backup prior to diving into the process. That’s it.


One UI 3.1 Update for Galaxy Z Flip – Changelog

The Galaxy Flip in India starts receiving the One UI 3.1 update via OTA, the update carries F700FXXU4DUB4 software version. It weighs approx. 1.3GB of download size. Here you can check the complete details.

  • Extract the date and address from the event title and recommend automatic registration.
  • Receive notifications from SmartThings devices that also have specified schedule notifications.

Camera

  • The performance of Camera has been improved

Display

  • Eye comfort shield function has been added.
  • The color temperature of the screen automatically adjusts for the time of day.

Buds Auto Switching

  • Support Buds auto switching between Galaxy phone and tablet.

Reminder

  • Extract the date and address from the reminder memo and recommend to register automatically, and remind important information by situation.

Share Sheet

  • It is now possible to protect your privacy by deleting the location information of previously taken photos before sharing or posting them on social media.

Social Platform

  • Synchronize valid links created on devices with the same registered Samsung account.
  • The use of social media services has been simplified. It is possible to share profiles, photos, notes, schedules, and more with friends simply by logging in to your Samsung account.

Photo Editor

  • Object eraser feature has been added to Labs in Photo Editor.
  • Using Erase Objects allows you to erase an object which you want in the photo.

Update 1: One UI 3.1 for Galaxy Z Fold2 5G

Galaxy Z Fold2 5G also starts receiving the latest One UI 3.1 update with some new features. The phone already runs on Android 11 based One UI 3.0 that was released in December 2020. And now Galaxy Z Fold2 users can experience the latest custom skin One UI 3.1.

The update brings some new features including improved multitasking that will let you enjoy the foldable display at its best. Samsung doesn’t reveal the region or build number for the update but included the list of new features.

One UI 3.1 update made multitasking easy as it will now let users instantly return to up to three tabs opened previously. Also, users can reply to any conversation while accessing any documents or page.

Other changes include Palm touch to turn off the screen, added flexibility to the camera app, natural and comfortable visual experiences, etc. Check out all the changes here.
