Google Drops Unexpected Android 17 Beta 4.1 With Bug Fixes

Summarize This Article:

Google surprised everyone by releasing Android 17 Beta 4.1 for Pixel devices. Why? Because the company had rolled out Beta 4 in April and described it as the “last scheduled beta” before the stable release. However, it appears Google still has a few final issues to address, and Beta 4.1 squashes remaining bugs and issues reported by testers.

Google is rolling out the incremental Android 17 beta update with the CP21.260330.011 build number. Though it is a small update, the eligibility remains the same. The beta is available for all supported Pixel models starting from the Pixel 6 series. However, the Pixel 10a is currently missing from the rollout. The update is in a rollout phase and is currently available to a limited number of users.

Moving to the changes, the Android 17 beta 4.1 update addresses the status bar display issue, Quick Settings bug, external display connections issue, Bluetooth audio routing issue, and hearing aids bug. You can see the complete details here:

  • An issue where the status bar incorrectly displayed zero signal bars despite active connectivity. (Issue #488358813)
  • A UI synchronization issue where the mobile data Quick Settings icon remained active during Airplane mode. (Issue #501368569, Issue #505757076, Issue #512828669)
  • An issue where external displays would go black when selecting high resolutions. (Issue #504952465)
  • A Bluetooth audio routing issue that caused playback silence after system interruptions like timers. (Issue #497181008)
  • An issue causing hearing aids to be automatically forgotten from paired devices after inactivity or charging. (Issue #504968772, Issue #504395613, Issue #493347800, Issue #504696777)

Android 17 Beta 4.1 update is available for Pixel 6 and newer models, as long as the device is already running an Android 17 beta build or is enrolled in the beta program. If you own an eligible device, make sure to back up your data before installing the beta update.
