How to Get New Gboard Themes – Download More than 100 Themes (Guide)

Gboard is a keyboard app from Google and it comes by default in Stock Android phone. It is also available on the Play Store for non-Stock Android devices. The app comes with numerous feature which makes it a better and competitive keyboard. Gboard also loads with attractive themes by default which is used to change the layout of the keyboard.

How to Change Gboard Themes

If you don’t know the method to change themes on Gboard then follow the below steps and you can switch between available themes.

  1. Open the Gboard keyboard on your phone.
  2. It will show Settings icon on top of Gboard, open it.
  3. Now select Themes option from the list.

How to Get Gboard Themes

As there are no other apps available on Play Store which can help to add Gboard themes. So we are going to use the Magisk module which will add more than a hundred themes on Gboard. All thanks to RKBD a senior member of XDA and developer of this module. If you have used Magisk modules than you probably know how good is Magisk. But there is one catch that to install any Magisk module we need to have root privilege on our phone.

The method is easy and reliable if you have a rooted phone. But if not and you want to root your phone then search your phone on our website and you will find the root guide. It is one of the simplest methods to add tons of Gboard themes on any Android Phone. Make sure to complete the below given requirement before you move to the installation guide.

Prerequisites

  • Make sure your phone has root access (Guide)
  • Install Gboard on your phone (Skip if already installed)
  • Magisk should be installed on your phone

Now we will split the steps into three sections for your convenience so that you can easily get Gboard themes on your phone. Let’s start with downloading the module for themes.

Download Magisk Module for Gboard Themes

Thanks to RKBD for the Gboard themes module that is available for free and comes with hundreds of Gboard themes. So first you have to download the module on your Magisk. If the Magisk Manager app is not installed then first install it on your phone. Gboard Themes

Now open the Magisk Manager app on your phone and tap on the three bar on the top left corner. Then select the Download option from the menu. Tap on the search icon and search for ‘Gboard Themes‘. It will show the Gboard themes module, so tap on the Download icon which will beside the module. It will give a popup with the option to download and install, so click on the Install button and it will take few seconds to install.

After installing the Gboard themes module it will show an option to Reboot, tap on it and wait for the device to boot into the system. If you will not reboot your phone then the module will not take effect which means you can’t access new themes so reboot your phone.

How to Open Gboard Settings

If you have more than one Keyboard app installed on your phone then you need to set Gboard as default keyboard. So first set the Gboard as default. Then open Settings on your phone and go to System > Languages & Input. Inside the app go to Virtual Keyboard and then tap on Gboard. Gboard Themes

It will open the Gboard Settings where you can customize your Gboard app including the theme. Now let’s see how you can access the new Gboard themes to apply your favorite theme.

Access New Gboard Themes

After installing the module and reboot, new themes will be added to the Gboard but you need to access it from Settings. So first open Settings on your phone and go to System > Languages & input > Virtual keyboard > Gboard > Theme. Gboard Themes

It will show a list of Gboard themes in different categories. You can click on Show More to access all the new themes. You will find all the new interesting and attractive themes. Choose your favorite themes then download it and it will ask to apply, so click on Apply and enjoy it.

Note: When you want to apply any theme, make sure to keep the Key borders off. Otherwise the new theme may not take effect.
