Apple has released the second beta of iOS 26.6 to developers, and it should soon become available to public beta testers as well. To be fair, many developers have likely already moved on to testing the newly announced iOS 27 Developer Beta. However, if you haven’t upgraded yet, you can test the new iOS 26.6 beta build.
Alongside iOS 26.6 Beta 2, Apple has also released several other software updates, including iPadOS 26.6 Beta 2, watchOS 26.6 Beta 2, tvOS 26.6 Beta 2, macOS Tahoe 26.6 Beta 2, macOS Sequoia 15.7.8 RC2, macOS Sonoma 14.8.8 RC2, and visionOS 26.6 Beta 2.
The iOS 26.6 Beta 2 update carries build number 23G5043d. Depending on your device model and the software version you are upgrading from, the update size can range from a few hundred MB to several GBs. Since this is only the second beta release, we can expect a few more beta builds before its public release.
As Apple’s focus has now been shifted towards iOS 27, there may not be major changes to the iOS 26.6 Beta updates. However, it does bring some small changes and improvements to existing features, such as limits for block contacts to save memory. It is also said to include autolock feature that senses and detects if someone has snatched a phone and locks it. This feature should come under Stolen Device Protection. Besides these, there may be additional minor changes and improvements. If you discover any notable changes in iOS 26.6 Beta 2, feel free to share them in the comments.
As mentioned earlier, the iOS 26.6 Beta 2 is available for developers and could also be live for public beta testers depending on when you read this. To check for the update, go to Settings > General > Software Update. Keep in mind that the update won’t be available if you’ve already installed the iOS 27 Beta. It’s recommended to back up your data before installing the update.
