We are approaching the halfway point of 2026, which means Apple’s software-focused event, WWDC, is just around the corner. Apple has officially confirmed that WWDC 2026 will take place from June 8 to June 12. During the event, the company is expected to unveil the next generation of iOS, iPadOS, watchOS, and more. In this article, we’ll talk about the iOS 27 release date, expected features, eligible devices, and everything else we know so far.
As usual, WWDC is expected to be a major event packed with announcements, and iOS 27 will likely be the biggest highlight for most users. Last year, iOS 26 introduced the Liquid Glass design language, which initially received mixed reactions. However, many of those early criticisms have shifted to positive feedback after Apple refined the animations and adjusted the overall experience through updates.
Before diving into the features expected in iOS 27, let’s first talk about when the update could be released.
iOS 27 Release Date
Apple generally follows a consistent release timeline every year, and iOS 27 is expected to follow the same pattern. The company will officially announce iOS 27 on June 8 during the WWDC keynote. Later that day, Apple is expected to release the first developer beta of iOS 27. The public beta will likely follow sometime next month, while the stable public release is expected to arrive in September. Apple followed a very similar timeline for iOS 26 last year as well.

One of the best things about Apple’s software updates is that they become available to eligible users almost immediately after release. Unlike many Android OEMs, Apple rolls out updates simultaneously across supported devices globally. The only requirement is that your iPhone must be eligible for the update.
With that said, let’s take a look at the devices expected to support iOS 27.
iOS 27 Supported Devices
Although Apple does not officially publish a fixed software update policy for its devices, the company is still known for offering long-term software support. Whether it’s a budget iPhone or a premium model, Apple generally provides excellent update support across the lineup.
