The Galaxy Z Flip 8 is expected to launch at Samsung’s next Unpacked event in the coming months. It will launch alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.
Earlier rumors suggested that the upcoming clamshell Galaxy Z Flip 8 would be powered by Samsung’s Exynos 2600 chipset, but it remained unclear whether the processor would be used globally or only in select regions. Now, according to a new report from a Naver blog, Samsung may follow the same strategy it uses for the Galaxy S series by introducing the Galaxy Flip 8 in both Exynos and Snapdragon variants.
If the latest leak is accurate, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 will be available with either Exynos 2600 or the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, depending on the region. Based on Samsung’s past patterns, users in North America will get the Snapdragon variant, while most other regions will get the Exynos variant.
This is one of Samsung’s practices that many users have criticized over the years. Regardless of the specifications on paper, the Snapdragon chipset offers better performance, battery efficiency, and long-term use compared to the Exynos chipset. It’s not that Samsung charges less for Exynos, both variants are priced same, and in some regions the Exynos models can even end up costing more due to local taxes and VAT.
According to the source, the Exynos 2600 is reportedly more expensive to produce, while the equivalent Snapdragon chipset may actually cost less. Qualcomm used this advantage to persuade Samsung to use its chipset with a lucrative offer that Samsung couldn’t refuse. If true, users in NA could again benefit from receiving the Snapdragon variant.
Talking about previous leaks, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 has already featured in CAD renders, revealing its overall design. It is also said to have a new hinge design and a crease-free display. The device is expected to be slightly lighter and larger than its predecessor.
The Galaxy Z Flip 8 is rumored to have a 6.9-inch inner display and a 4.1-inch cover display. The device could be available in 12GB/256GB and 12GB/512GB configurations. It could feature a 50MP main sensor and a 12MP ultrawide sensor. The device is expected to come with a 4300mAh battery and 25W charging. More information will be revealed as we approach its launch.
