Leaks for the upcoming flagship from OnePlus – the OnePlus 16 have started making their way. This time, the leaks for the upcoming flagship focus on the camera setup. As revealed by the very popular leaker from China, Digital Chat Station, there are several improvements in the camera department. Let’s take a look at what he’s revealed.
According to fresh leaks from Digital Chat Station via Weibo, the OnePlus 16 will come with a 200MP main camera, a 50MP ultrawide snapper, and a 50MP periscope telephoto camera. Now, these specs feel on-brand for what OnePlus might do to bump up its camera department with the OnePlus 16 series.
Previously, a camera specs leak for the OnePlus 16 stated that the device would come with a 50MP main camera, a 200MP periscope telephoto, and a 50MP ultrawide shooter. While these specs kind of make sense, the specs revealed by Digital Chat Station are more reliable to believe.
While both camera spec leaks are interesting, OnePlus may be trying out different camera setups for its device before finalizing one setup that works well with the software, hardware, and especially the price of the device.
Now, having a 200MP lens on the OnePlus 16 might seem like a good idea, but it only makes sense to have that lens on an Oppo or Vivo-branded smartphone, as these two brands generally focus on releasing camera-centric smartphones. However, it will be interesting if OnePlus does latch on to a 200MP camera for its upcoming flagship, making it a smartphone that is not only perfect software and hardware-wise, but also the perfect photo companion for those who prefer OnePlus smartphones.
The OnePlus 16 is expected to be revealed first in China towards the end of 2026 (anywhere between October and December), and as usual, will come with the newest Snapdragon SoC, i.e., the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6. Until more leaks for the OnePlus 16 surface, take the current camera leaks for the device with a pinch of salt.
