Samsung has rolled out the One UI 8.5 beta program for the Galaxy S23 series and the Galaxy A36. The beta update arrives right on schedule, in line with the leaked One UI 8.5 Beta plan for April. It has been spotted in India and Korea, and may already be live in other regions as well.
Samsung is on a roll today, rolling out multiple beta updates across devices. While some models are receiving their next beta builds, the Galaxy S23 series and Galaxy A36 are getting their very first One UI 8.5 Beta.
The One UI 8.5 Beta for the Galaxy S23 series comes with build version ZZD5, while the Galaxy A36 receives the beta update with build version ZZD2. The update size is over 4GB on the Galaxy S23 and over 2GB on the Galaxy A36, so it’s recommended to download it over WiFi.
One UI 8.5 is a significant upgrade and is highly awaited, even more so than One UI 8. In One UI 8.5, you will receive features and improvements such as customizable Quick Panel, four new connectivity features, new privacy protection features, notifications summaries, and AI-powered features such as Photo Assist, Smarter device control, Meeting Assist, Smart Clipboard, and more.
If you have a Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, Galaxy S23 Ultra, or Galaxy A36, and the beta program is available in your region, you can simply apply for the beta to experience the new major One UI 8.5 update. Keep in mind that the beta program registration is usually available for a limited time.
To register for the beta program, first open the Samsung Members app and ensure it’s up to date. Then, in the app, tap the Notices/Broadcast icon to see the One UI 8.5 beta announcement. Tap on it, scroll down to the bottom, and tap Beta Program Home. Choose the beta version and follow the on-screen instructions to successfully register. Once registered, the One UI 8.5 beta program will be available immediately, provided you haven’t had any pending updates. Make sure to back up your data before installing the update.
Samsung has been expanding the One UI 8.5 beta program since last month. In the last few weeks, the company has already rolled out the beta update for several devices, including the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 6, Galaxy S25 FE, Galaxy S24 FE, and Galaxy Tab S11.
