How to Install Android 8.1 Oreo on Moto G4/G4 Plus (OTA)

You can use the Stock recovery to sideload the OTA on your phone. It is a simple process, but follow the steps carefully otherwise you can brick your phone. A backup is always recommended while modifying anything on phone.

  1. First, download the OTA zip file according to the running Android version (Nougat or Android Oreo soak test).
  2. Copy the file on your phone.
  3. Completely turn off the phone.
  4. Press and hold Power + Volume down at the same time to boot in bootloader mode.
  5. Use volume up & down key to navigate and when you see Recovery mode click on the power button.
  6. If it shows no command screen press and hold Power button and immediately press Volume Up button (don’t let go power button while pressing volume up).
