Apple just pushed the iOS 14.8 and iPadOS 14.8 for iPhones and iPads. The Apple event is scheduled for tomorrow where Apple may announce the official release date for iOS 15 and iPadOS 15. But surprisingly Apple just released iOS 14.8 and iPadOS 14.8. It is an important update which fixes some critical security issues.
We may also get to see the release candidate build for the iOS 15 and iPadOS tomorrow after the event. But it will be available to beta users. The eighth beta will be the last iteration of iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 since iOS 15 will be releasing soon.
Along with iOS 14.8 and iPadOS 14.8, Apple also released macOS Big Sur 11.6 and watchOS 7.6.2 update. Both iOS 14.8 and iPadOS 14.8 update comes with build version 18H17. It is an important security update so you will not be seeing new features in the update. We have seen the same move from Apple before when they had to release another update just before the scheduled update.
The latest iOS 14.8 update states ‘This update provides important security updates and is recommended for all users.’ If you find any new changes let us know in the comment section.
iOS 14.8 and iPadOS 14.8 Updates
The important security update is rolling out to eligible iPhones and iPads. You will get the update directly on your device. In case you don’t get the notification, you can check it manually from Settings > Software Update.
If your device running on a beta build and beta profile installed, then you will not receive the update on your device. To get the latest public build, you need to remove the beta profile. Below you can check the method to remove the beta profile.
How to Remove Beta Profile from iPhone and iPad
- Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad.
- Go to General and then Profile.
- Now it will show the Beta profile installed on your iPhone or iPad.
- Click on the available beta profile.
- Then click on the Remove Profile button.
- If it asks for the passcode, then enter your device passcode and click the Remove button.
And if your iPhone/iPad running a higher version (iOS 15 Beta), then you need to downgrade your Apple device. But it will remove all data from your iPhone. So, we don’t recommend downgrade unless you want to Jailbreak iPhone or iPad.
