Apple releases iOS 14.2 Beta 3 and iPadOS 14.2 Beta 3

In the big event scheduled for 13th October, Apple released 4 new iPhones (the iPhone 12 series). And after the launch event, Apple also pushed iOS 14.2 Beta 3 and iPadOS 14.2 Beta 3 updates for developers as well as public beta testers. Last week there was a gap in the update schedule maybe because they were preparing for the big launch event. But now the updates are out and you can update immediately. Here you will know How to download and install iOS 14.2 Beta 3 and iPadOS 14.2 Beta 3.

iOS 14 is one of the biggest updates in many years that comes with a lot of changes and UI improvements. And then Apple introduced the iOS 14.2 updates mainly for change in the user interface. And they have nailed it with amazing work. But it is still pending for the public release which is likely to roll out next month. But for now, you can download and install the latest iOS 14.2 Beta 3 update for developers and public beta testers.

iOS 14.2 Beta 3 Update

Along with iOS 14.2 developer Beta 3 and iPadOS 14.2 Beta 3 updates, Apple has also pushed tvOS 14.2 Beta 3, watchOS 7.1 Beta 3. The iOS 14.2 Beta 3 update comes in at about 600MB if your device is running on iOS 14.2 Beta 2. The update size can vary according to different situations and devices you have. It comes with build number 18B5072f. It is ending with f means we can expect more iOS 14.2 beta updates. Let’s check what’s new you will get in the latest update.

iOS 14.2 Beta 3 – What’s New

The iOS 14.2 Beta 3 & iPadOS 14.2 Beta 3 updates don’t come with a lot of new features. But there are some features that will improve your usage experience.

The latest iOS 14.2 Beta 3 update brings a new modem update which will fix connectivity issues if your device has any. However, we didn’t have any issues so we can share our experience regarding connectivity.

In the control center, it will now show the icons for recently released beats flex and homepod mini when connected to your iPhone or iPad.

In the previous iOS 14.2 beta updates Apple made some changes in Music. It now shows full length on the notification and app icon in which you are playing music. Well, some users didn’t have these settings till beta 2 and so they will now get these features in the iOS 14.2 beta 3 update.

There are some small changes in the latest update but you may not notice in normal usage. This is still a beta update and so you will have to deal with some bugs which will be fixed in upcoming updates.

Download and Install iOS 14.2 Beta 3

Apple allows its users to install updates right away using various methods. If your iPhone or iPad is already running on iOS 14.2 Beta 2 or iPadOS 14.2 Beta 2 respectively then you will directly get the update on your device. But in case you are still on the iOS 14 public stable updates then first you have to install beta profiles. You can install either a Developer beta profile or a public beta profile. Both will work as the update is released for developers and public beta testers.

There is another method to install the beta update and that is using iTunes or Finder. But this method requires a computer to install the update. Here we will share the easy method and it will not delete your device data. So let’s start with a guide to install beta profiles on iPhones and iPads.

Install iOS 14.2 Beta Profile and iPadOS 14.2 Beta Profile

  1. Go to the Apple Beta Software program site.
  2. Then scroll down a bit and click on Sign in if you have Apple ID.
  3. On the next page, select the correct OS for your devices like iOS 14 or iPadOS 14.
  4. Scroll down till Getting Started and click on Enroll your iOS device.
  5. Now you need to install a profile from the next Page. For this, click on the Download Profile.
  6. After installing the Profile, reboot your device. And you are ready to install iOS 14.2 on your iPhone.

After installing the beta profile, you can go to Settings > Software Update to install the latest update on your iPhone or iPad.

In case if you decide to go back to the stable version then you can use the IPSW file and install using Finder or iTunes. You can also remove the beta profile if you don’t want to receive the beta update on your iPhone or iPad. Stay connected for more iPhone and iPad news.
