Apple released iOS 14.2 Beta 1 for Developers with a slew of UI Changes

This week has been the week for Apple as they have released many products and software updates. And the biggest highlight of the week is the release of the public stable version of iOS 14. In three consecutive days, Apple has released three updates including iOS 14 GM, iOS 14 Final, and today they released iOS 14.2 Beta 1, especially for Developers. Here you will know how to get iOS 14.2 Beta 1 on your iPhone.

iOS 14 comes with a lot of new UI changes and features with improved performance. If you own a device released after iPhone 6 then you might already have received the iOS 14 Public Stable version. But as for developers, the build was missing some necessary features and so the iOS 14.2 Beta 1 released so that developers can work on their projects.

The latest iOS 14.2 Beta 1 comes with major UI improvements that we may have appreciated if they have provided the same UI in the iOS 14 final build. But it’s coming soon for non-beta users soon so no complaint about that. Although it comes with huge UI improvement, Apple has only mentioned bug fixes in the update info. The iOS 14.2 Beta 1 update comes with build number 18B5052h. And the update will be big if you are shifting from a public stable build.

The main changes have been done in iOS 14.2 Beta 1 is on its UI. There are many changes in applications as well as system interface.

Lockscreen – In this beta update you will find a slight change in the Music Playback UI. It looks more anticipated. The album art is big and controls are bigger than what is already available on iOS 14.

Music Player – The next is also related to the Music player. In iOS 14.2 Beta 1, if you click on the AirPlay icon then the UI will be a different one. Also if you long tap on the Music Area in the control center then it will open a bigger Music Playback interface.

Music Recognition – The new iOS 14.2 Beta 1 comes with a new icon in the control center which is Shazam icon. And you already know how Shazam works.

Headphone Safety – Privacy and Safety are the top concerns by Apple and they deliver the best for better performance with Safety. Headphones are fun to use but they can also disturb your health and so you need to use it on required volumes. In iOS 14.2 Beta 1 there is a new feature in the Headphone safety where it will tell you at what sound volume you should listen to music in different environments like traffic, streets, and more.

Notification for loud sounds – There is already a feature in the iOS that notifies for the loud sound. But it got some improvements and It will now notify in a new way.

There are some other minor changes that you will notice on daily uses like change in icons and more. But what users are liking is the new Music playback design in different screens. The iOS 14.2 Beta 1 is released for Developers and if you have a Developer Apple account then you can easily update your iPhone or iPad to the latest version. Apple also allows its users to update their Apple devices through Finder and iTunes. And so if you have an iOS 14.2 Beta 1 file then you can easily update your iPhone. But if you have a Developer account then the process is all easy. If you want the new update, then you need to install the beta profile of iOS 14.2 beta 1 and iPadOS 14.2 beta 1 on your iPhone or iPad. Here’s how you can get it on your iPhone or iPad.

Install iOS 14.2 Beta Profile and iPadOS 14.2 Beta Profile

  1. Go to the Apple Beta Software program site.
  2. Then scroll down a bit and click on Sign in if you have Apple ID (developer account).
  3. On the next page, select the correct OS for your devices like iOS 14.2 or iPadOS 14.2.
  4. Scroll down till Getting Started and click on Enroll your iOS device.
  5. Now you need to install a profile from the next Page. For this, click on the Download Profile.
  6. After installing the Profile, reboot your device. And you are ready to install iOS 14.2 on your iPhone.

After installing the beta profile, you can go to Settings > Software Update to install the latest update on your iPhone or iPad.

In case if you decide to go back to the stable version then you can use the IPSW file and install using Finder or iTunes. You can also remove the beta profile if you don’t want to receive the beta update on your iPhone or iPad. Stay connected for more iPhone and iPad news.
