With summer around the corner, a new Galaxy Unpacked event is scheduled to take place. At the upcoming event, Samsung’s 7th generation of the Galaxy Z Fold is set to make its way, and fans of the foldable device are excited about it. As it is with every smartphone out there, leaks and rumors begin floating around the internet.
According to early rumors, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will feature various upgrades in terms of specifications, software, and a few changes in its foldable design and mechanism. Let’s take a look at what we can expect from the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7.
Galaxy Z Fold 7 Release Date
Samsung will launch the Galaxy Z Fold 7 at its upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event, which is expected to take place in early July, based on the release patterns of previous Z Fold and Z Flip models and rumors. During this event, the South Korean tech giant will also launch Z Flip 7 and the all-new Galaxy S25 Edge.

Samsung has hardly changed the look of its Z Fold devices, except for changes in the screen size of the outer and inner displays. So expect the usual body styling for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 as well. In terms of the colors, you can expect the usual black and white color options, along with some exclusive Samsung website variants in some brighter or lighter colors. A special Edition model is also the possibility, but it will be released later.

Powering the heart of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, which was also featured in the Galaxy S25 series. As expected, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will come with 12 GB of RAM and should be available in 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB storage variants. As usual, there will be no option to add external storage to the Galaxy Z Fold 7 via micro SD cards. However, you will be able to connect USB-C external SSDs, HDDs, and flash drives.

On the display front, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 to feature an 8.2-inch inner display as its main display and a 6.5-inch outer display. As usual, you can expect Samsung’s Dynamic AMOLED LTPO 2K display with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. As a foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 might come with a display with less noticeable screen creases, similar to what the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition had. The peak brightness of the device is expected to be 2600 nits.
The main screen of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is expected to come at a 1968 by 2184 resolution at 367 PPI. You can also expect a stronger outer display that will be more resistant to nails and scratches.

When it comes to battery charging capacities, Samsung is slow to improve or make changes. By the looks of things, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 might continue to go with the 4400 mAh battery, which, when compared to other foldables in the market, seems very less. Even the charging speeds are quite slow. The Galaxy Z Fold 7, like the previous Z Folds, will continue to charge at 25 Watts. As with most of the flagship Samsung Galaxy devices, you can expect wireless charging at 15W and reverse wireless charging at 4.5W.

Moving to the cameras of the Galaxy Z Fold 7, the cameras on the Z Fold devices have been decent. The cameras are perfect for your everyday photography and videography. But with upcoming foldable, Samsung could take it to the next level by including 200MP main camera. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 will continue with the triple rear camera setup, followed by a front outer display selfie camera and an under-display selfie camera on the inside screens.

2024 and the start of 2025 have been rocky, with Samsung having trouble rolling out its much-loved One UI 7 based on Android 15 to its supported devices. Now, with Android 16 public beta available on select smartphones, it is expected that Samsung might release the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Z Flip 7 with One UI 8 based on Android 16 right out of the box. There is hope since the stable version of Android 16 is expected to be out in the coming months, whereas the new foldables from Samsung are expected to arrive between June and August.
In terms of AI tools and features, you can expect all the good stuff from Galaxy AI that has been unveiled right from the Galaxy S24 series from 2024 to everything new that was made available for the Galaxy S25 series. It will be interesting to see what new Galaxy AI tools Samsung is set to bring with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and its upcoming One UI 8 software.
Moving towards device support, Samsung will continue to provide 7 years of major software updates and security patches. So, if the Galaxy Z Fold 7 comes with One UI 8 out of the box, you can expect the device to get updates until One UI 15. However, if it launches with One UI 7 out of the box, then the last update of the device will be One UI 14 based on whatever version of Android Google decides to release in the coming years.

Now, when it comes to pricing, Samsung has kept the launch prices of its devices similar to its previous generations. However, with the tariff wars going on, different regions can expect a change in pricing of the Galaxy Z Fold 7. If the prices are not to be affected by the tariff wars, here is what you can expect
