Samsung’s mid-year Galaxy Unpacked event is just around the corner and, as expected, the brand is going to be revealing several new devices for the year. One of those devices is the next-generation Galaxy Z Flip. Yes, the Z Flip series continues live on in 2026.
Now, if you’re in the market for a new smartphone and are looking for something unique and interesting, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 might be the device for you. So, what do we know so far about the device? Let’s find out!
The Z Flip, when it was first launched in 2020, was termed a fashion-oriented device, and it continues to be the same even in 2026. One of the many reasons is the fun color options that it’s available in, the compact size, and the added novelty of being a flip phone in modern times when the majority of the market share comprises regular slab-designed smartphones.
The software for the Z Flip plays an important role, especially for the outer or cover display, thanks to the various customization options available via One UI.
Galaxy Z Flip 8 Release Date
The Galaxy Z Flip 8 will be revealed at the Galaxy Unpacked event that is set for the 22nd of July 2026. Alongside the launch, we will also see the pre-orders going live and the official date when the devices will be available for purchase through online and offline retailers.

Galaxy Z Flip 8: What’s Under The Hood?
Samsung’s Z Flip 8 will be powered by the special Made for Galaxy Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC. Samsung has been known to stick with the same chip used in the Galaxy S series smartphones for all the flagship devices that they launch throughout the year. There have been a few rumors that certain Galaxy Z Flip 8 models being sold in certain markets might come with Samsung’s in-house SoC – the Exynos 2600.
Moving towards the displays on the Galaxy Z Flip 8, the inner foldable display will be similar to what the Z Flip 7 has: a 6.9-inch (17.53 cm) AMOLED 2X with support for HDR10+ and refresh rates of 120 hertz with peak brightness between 2500 and 2700 nits.
The outer or cover display for the Z Flip 8 could be an sAMOLED display with a 120 hertz refresh rate, at 4.1 inches (10.41 cm). The display will have around 2600 nits of peak brightness and will come with the latest Gorilla Glass Victus.
For the inner display, Samsung has been working to bring a reduced crease appearance for the Z Flip and Z Fold series for this year, as well as a new hinge mechanism to make both devices more durable when folding and unfolding the device.
The Galaxy Z Flip 8 will come with 12GB of RAM and two storage options – 256GB and 512GB, with no SD card slots for storage expansion. As a fashion accessory type of device, there is no sense in launching the Z Flip 8 with more than 12GB of RAM and even 1TB of storage, especially with how the prices for certain components have skyrocketed.
Galaxy Z Flip 8 Camera Setups
The Z Fip8 will continue to rock the dual rear camera setup and a single punch-hole camera for the inner display. Just like the Z Flip 7, you will get to see a 10MP selfie camera at f/2.2. Meanwhile, the rear camera will consist of the 12MP ultrawide lens at f/2.2 and a 50MP main shooter at f/1.8. Even though the cameras will be similar to the previous generation of the Z Flip7, Samsung’s strong point is in the image processing and optimization that will help the Z Flip8 take even better pictures.
Galaxy Z Flip 8 Battery and Charging Speeds
The Z Flip 8 will have a 4500 mAh battery that can be fast-charged at 25W wired and 15W via wireless fast charging. Like a lot of Galaxy flagships, the Z Flip 8 will also have support for reverse wireless charging at 4.5W. Given the form factor of the device its unlikely that Samsung would push a 5000 mAh battery into its Z Flip 8, unless they decide to start making use of silicon carbon batteries.

Galaxy Z Flip 8 Color Options
Looking at the leaks that revealed the colors for the new foldable, the Z Flip 8 is expected to come in four color options.
- Cream
- Graphite
- Mint
- Pink
While the Cream and Graphite colorways have been standard for the Z Flip lineup, the Pink and Mint shades are new colorways exclusive to the Z Flip 8 lineup.
Galaxy Z Flip 8 Software and Security
Samsung has been committed to providing 7 years of major and security updates for its flagship devices released in 2024 and beyond. As for the Z Flip 8, we can expect the device to be launched with One UI 9 based on Android 17 out of the box, considering that internal testing of One UI 9 for certain devices is currently going on.
In case of some major issues, we could see the Z Flip 8 being released with One UI 8.5 based on Android 16, with priority updates to One UI 9 as and when the software gets stable and is ready for rollout to all supported devices.
Galaxy Z Flip 8 Prices
Prices for most smartphones, including from Samsung itself, have gone up in price. As for the Z Flip 8, expect a price increase at launch.
According to the leaks, these are the expected prices of the Galaxy Z Flip 8
- 256GB variant at US $1,299
- 512GB variant at US $1,499
If you do plan to upgrade to the new Galaxy Z Flip 8, do wait for trade-in offers, pre-order discounts, and other carrier-based offers that will go live after the Galaxy Unpacked event to promote the newly launched Samsung flagships.
