Moments after Oppo announces Android 17 Beta 2 for Oppo Find X9 Pro, sister brand Realme has announced its own Android 17 developer preview program for the Realme GT 8 Pro. If you own the Realme GT 8 Pro, you can enroll and participate in the Android 17 developer preview program ahead of the stable release.
Realme has officially announced the developer preview program on its community forum. As per the details, the update is meant for developers to adapt their apps for the newest version of Android. Android 17 is still in its early stages of development, meaning you may face bugs and issues while using the update. If you have never flashed a phone before, it is strongly advisable to wait for the open beta or stable release to avoid bricking your device.
Android 17 developer preview program for the Realme GT 8 Pro is available only to users residing in India. Please don’t try to install the update on your device if you’re living in a different region. The update is based on Android 17 Beta 2. Here’s the list of known issues available on the update.
- All user data will be erased during the upgrade.
- Some system functions are not available.
- Part of the interface display may look less than desirable.
- Some applications may not work properly or be fully functional.
- The system may have some stability issues.
Please ensure that your Realme GT 8 Pro is running on this particular software version: RMX5210_16.0.3.501(EX01). If it’s on an older build, please update your phone to the newest available Android 16 stable version. Before updating your device, make sure to charge it to at least 30%, and 4GB of free storage is required.
Update Realme GT 8 Pro to Android 17 Beta 2
First things first, take a backup of important data by navigating to Settings > Additional Settings > Back Up and Reset > Backup & Restore > choose files you want to save.
Once done, you need to download the Android 17 beta 2 update file from Realme Forum. Follow the steps below to install Android 17 beta 2 on your GT 8 Pro.
- First, download the Android 17 Beta 2 zip.
- Enable Developer Mode: Settings > About device > Version, then tap Build number 7 times.
- Go to Settings > Software Update > Settings in the upper right corner > Manually select the installation package.
- Select the Android 17 Beta 2 zip file and click install.
- When it’s done, tap Restart.
