List of TCL phones eligible for Android 12 Update

Two months ago, Google released first developer preview build of upcoming Android 12 OS. And TCL is one of the first smartphone OEMs to adopt Android 12 and released the developer preview update for their smartphone. However, the first developer preview is limited to TCL 20 Pro 5G smartphone. If you’re using a TCL smartphone and want to if your TCL phone will get Android 12 update or not, then here you can check the complete list of TCL phones which will get Android 12 update.

Android 12 is one of the biggest updates for Android phones, thanks to the overhaul user interface, Material You dynamic theming, widgets, privacy dashboard, and more. Android users are eagerly waiting to get hands on to the upcoming Android 12 OS. And the smartphone OEMs are also started preparing to release Android 12 update for their smartphones. Talking about the TCL, then a couple of TCL phones could get taste of the next-generation Android OS.

Last year’s TCL 10L and TCL 10 Pro were announced with Android 10 OS. Both phones have recently received Android 11 update. While speaking to XDA Developers, TCL’s spokesman said, both phones will get at least one minimum major OS upgrade as well as the monthly security patch ever two months for two years.

Here’s the TCL spokesman’s statement:

“We can confirm both the TCL 10 Pro and TCL 10L will, at minimum, receive one major OS update as well as SMR updates every two months for 2 years.”

So, if the owners of TCL 10L and TCL 10 Pro are lucky, both the phones may get the Android 12 update. Aside from TCL 10 series, the newer models, aka TCL 20 series phones will get the Android 12 update. As I said earlier, the testing is already going on for the TCL 20 Pro 5G smartphone. Now let’s move on to the list of TCL phones which will get Android 12 update.

  • TCL 20 Pro 5G (received)
  • TCL 20L / 20L+
  • TCL 20S

At the moment of writing this article, there’s no confirmation about the TCL 20SE and TCL 20 5G.


October 18, 2022 – TCL 30XE 5G confirmed

Rogers has officially confirmed the Android 12 rollout for the TCL 30XE 5G, it will be released on November 2. You can expect same for other carriers and unlocked models.

  1. As 24 Aug 2022, only the TCL 20 5G Pro has received the Android 12 update.
    I also have a TCL 20L, which still has Android 11, and the last security patch is dated 1 Nov. 2021.

  2. I’m still on Android 11. TCL 20 Pro 5G from Virgin Canada. Wondering if they’ll keep their promise of TWO major updates when I’m still stuck with the older version…
