June 2024 Pixel Feature Drop brings 13 Features and Improvements

The quarterly feature update for Pixel devices is here. Today, Google announced the June 2024 Pixel Feature Drop for Pixel phones, Pixel watches, and the Pixel tablet. The latest feature drop brings a bunch of improvements along with some new features. Let’s see what the new features are.

Gemini Nano

Gemini Nano makes its way to the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8a. The on-device AI model was previously available for the latest Pixel 8 Pro but has now expanded to two other models. It can be enabled from developer options.

Summarize Improvements

Summarize feature in the Recorder app gets various improvements. The app now provides more detailed and downloadable summaries to Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, and Pixel 8a. You can download transcripts in a text file or Google Docs. Summarize can also detect and show the names of speakers for better transcripts.

Connected Displays

You can now mirror your Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 8, and Pixel 8a to a monitor, TV, or larger screen by utilizing the USB-C port and cable. It will help with an interruption-free experience while watching movies, shows, or even doing some work.

Locate Offline Devices

The latest upgrade to Find My Device lets you track your device even when it’s powered off or the battery is dead. Google also says the location data is encrypted and private from the company.

Improved Frame Selection

Take the best shots with a single shutter. The Google Pixel Camera can automatically detect the best moment from your photo in HDR+. It is a different feature than Best Take, but the purpose of both features is the same.

Choose Lens Manually

Now users can also pick the camera lens manually to take perfect shots. This will give you more control over your camera.

Phone Number Lookup

Look for the mystery number that you received a call from. If you don’t recognize a number in your call history, you can look it up through a reverse phone number search.

Do More with Google Wallet

In Google Wallet, users can store items like boarding passes, loyalty cards, event tickets, public transport tickets, gift cards, and more in new eligible regions.

Car Crash Detection

Car Crash Detection finally comes to the Pixel Watch 2. In case of a car crash, the Watch 2 can detect it and will automatically dial emergency services. If you think it detected a crash incorrectly, you will have time to cancel it. The feature works even if your phone is not nearby.

Car Crash Detection also integrates with Emergency Sharing. This will send real-time locations to emergency contacts in case of crash detection. Fall Detection also got improved with this feature drop.
