Google has been diligently working on offering a great set of features with its premium Pixel phones. The Pixel 8 Proโ€™s acclaimed AI and camera capabilities are a good example. The tech titan is set to raise the bar once again with its next-generation Pixel phones: the Pixel 9 lineup.

Numerous leaks indicate that Google will launch four phones in the Pixel 9 lineup: the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. In this article, we will explore everything we know about the upcoming Pixel 9 phones, except the foldable.

Google Pixel 9 Pro Release Date

In recent years, Google has officially teased the design of its Pixel phones at its annual developer conference held in May. However, this yearโ€™s event was “all about AI,” with Google not even paying attention to its smartphone operating system, Android. Announcements for Android 15 and upcoming OS updates were shifted to the second day of this year.

Usually, Pixel launches are reserved for the companyโ€™s fall event, the โ€œMade by Googleโ€ event, held around October. Last year, Google announced the Pixel 8 series and the second-generation Pixel Watch on October 4th. The Pixel 7 series was unveiled on October 6, 2022, and the Pixel 6 series debuted on October 19, 2021.

So, yes, we can expect Google to launch Pixel 9 series in the month of October. Last year, Google started testing the Pixel 8 phones in September, and if the company follows the same promotion strategy, we can expect the first teaser around the launch of the iPhone 16 in September.

Google Pixel 9 Pro Series Leaks

As we mentioned earlier, Google is planning to expand the Pixel portfolio with four launches instead of two. These four phones are likely to be the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

The Pixel 9 and the Pixel 9 Pro XL are going to be the successor of the Pixel 8 and the Pixel 8 Pro. Meanwhile, the Pixel 9 Pro is expected to share the same size as the standard Pixel 9 but will include the powerful specs and camera upgrades typical of the Pro models.

Back in January, the known leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer, aka, OnLeaks, collaborated with MySmartPrice and shared Pixel 9 Pro XL renders in high quality, initially, he said it was Pixel 9 Pro. However, the dimensions of the CAD renders point to the Pixel 9 Pro XL. The reported dimensions are 162.7 x 76.6 x 8.5mm, the same as the Pixel 8 Pro.

Apart from the dimensions, the renders reveal all-new flat sides and flat panels for the Pixel 9 series. The camera bar no longer spans from one end to the other, and there’s a noticeable increase in the size of the primary camera sensor. Additionally, rumors suggest that a temperature sensor could make a return.

Later that day, Onleaks and 91Mobiles shared the renders of the Pixel 9 Pro, revealing similar changes to the Pixel 9 Pro XL. The CAD renders dimensions for the vanilla model are 152.8 x 71.9 x 8.5 mm. It is expected to feature a 6.1-inch screen size.

In late March, he shared the Pixel 9 renders, revealing a display size of 6.03-inch and the same dimensions as the Pixel 9 Pro.

Amidst all these developments, a Russian publisher, Rozetked, shared live hands-on photos of the Pixel 9 Pro alongside the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Leaked photos also confirm several other details, including the presence of the Tensor G4 chipset, 16GB LPDDR5 RAM, 128GB Samsung UFS storage, a periscope telephoto camera, and an all-new design.

Recently, the same publisher shared more live hands-on photos, this time comparing all three phones with the previous generation phones. This leak reaffirms the previous claims that the Pixel 9 will succeed the Pixel 8, the Pixel 9 Pro XL will replace the Pixel 8 Pro, and the Pro model will bring powerful specs in a compact size.

Apart from these leaks, last month, Android Authority shared wallpapers of the Pixel 9 series and the color options.

The Pixel 9 is expected to come in Jade, Obsidian, Peony, and Porcelain.

The Pro models will come in these shades – Hazel, Obsidian, Porcelain, and Rose.

Google Pixel 9 Pro Rumored Specs

In terms of the specs, the Pixel 9 series will be powered by the Tensor G4 SoC. In terms of screen size, the recent leak by a Russian publisher revealed the screen sizes for all three phones. The Pixel 9 is said to feature a 6.24-inch panel, the Pixel 9 Pro to come with a 6.34-inch screen, whereas the Pixel 9 Pro XL is rumored to pack a 6.73-inch display.

Speaking of the other details, then the Pixel 9โ€™s prototype in this leak pointing at 12GB RAM, whereas, the other two models are expected to come with 16GB RAM. The storage remains the same for all three phones โ€“ 128GB Samsung UFS Storage. We could also see a 256GB or 512GB variant.

Pixel 9 Pro and Pro XL are expected to ship with three 50MP camera sensors including a periscope telephoto sensor. Whereas, the standard model to feature a main sensor and an ultra-wide-angle sensor. The Pixel 9 lineup will come with Android 15 operating system out-of-the-box and a possibility of 7 years of Android updates.

Google Pixel 9 Pro Price Leak

Last year, Google introduced a $100 price increase with the Pixel 8 and the Pixel 8 Pro, with the lineup starting from $699. It will be interesting to see where the Pixel 9 will stand in terms of pricing. If the company maintains similar pricing, then we could expect the Pixel 9 to come in at $699, the Pixel 9 Pro at $899, and the Pixel 9 Pro XL at $999.
