If you have the Galaxy S24 series and are from the above-listed regions, you can check this guide on how to join the One UI 7 beta. Now, if you are in a region where the One UI 7 beta 1 update isn’t live, no problem.
Here, we will list all the new features that Samsung has provided to users via the One UI 7 beta update. Let’s get started.
Every New Feature in One UI 7 Beta 1 Update
Before we dive into what’s new with the One UI 7 update, it must be made known that this update brings in the latest Android version, Android 15 on your Samsung Galaxy device. Of course, Android itself has a lot of cool features and privacy improvements under the hood. Ever since Samsung has stated that One UI 7 will have a lot of new improvements, knowing what’s new in the One UI 8 update is important.
The One UI 7 beta 1 update weighs around 4GB and comes along with the December month security patch. Samsung has finally released a security patch on time as compared to how it has been doing during this year.
Large Folder Sizes on your Home screen
Gone are the days when folder sizes on your home screen would just be a standard size. With the One UI 7 beta 1 update, you can easily resize and make your folders large.
New Widget Styles
Android 15 brings new widget styles, and One UI 7 has them. Many of the newer widgets with One UI 7 are square-shaped, similar to what you would see on iOS devices.
New App Icons
Samsung has finally refreshed the app icons for a lot of its stock apps. The icons now look and feel more vibrant as compared to what they previously used to be on One UI 6.
New Battery Icon
One UI 7 also brings a new battery icon. In this icon update, you will not see the icon symbol present inside the battery icon itself. You can say that the icon looks similar to what you get with the newest iOS 18 update.
Fixed Exposure Settings For Each Camera Mode
The new One UI 7 beta 1 update also brings this nifty little feature to the camera app. If you always have a habit of setting a particular exposure level in portrait mode, the exposure level will now remain the same and will not change. Whether you switch the camera modes or even close the camera app. This might seem like a small feature, but it is important for a lot of people who use their Galaxy smartphones for photography.
Camera Share
Does your PC or laptop have a mediocre webcam? Well, you no longer have to worry about that camera! Thanks to the One UI 7 update, you will now be able to use your Galaxy smartphone as your PC or laptop’s webcam. You can now easily attend video calls with better video input thanks to your Galaxy smartphone’s lovely cameras.
Redesigned Control Center
The new control center for One UI 7 has been given a new look. If you look at it from a distance, it looks similar to what you would see on other Android 14 and Android 15 devices. There are now two sliders for the brightness and volume right below the quick panel icons. You will also see the media player below these icons.
Vertical App Drawer
After many years, Samsung has finally brought the vertical app drawer settings via the One UI 7 update. If you don’t like the vertical app drawer, you can always and easily change it back to the older horizontal-styled app drawer.
New Animations
The app opening animations on a device running One UI 7 beta 1 feel a lot smoother and softer. There is a noticeable improvement when you scroll through home screens or swipe through the new vertical app drawer.
New Lock screen widget Styles
While the lock screen gets new fonts for the time and date section, the widgets for the clock face have also been changed. Overall, there are basic enhancements for the lock screen. There is also a new fingerprint unlock animation. Previously on One UI 6, you had a circular animation and now on One UI 7 beta 1, there is a nice smooth ripple effect.
Now Bar for the Lock Screen
This is a new feature with One UI 7. The Now Bar is a small little bar that will sit at the bottom of the lock screen. It will give you live notifications on your lock screen. For the time being, only the following apps can display live notifications on the Now Bar.
- Clock
- Emergency Sharing
- Samsung Health
- Interpreter
- Music
- Maps
- Samsung Notes
- Bixby
- Modes and Routines
You can also choose to display the Now Bar if you have the Always on Display screen enabled.
Improved Landscape Home Screen Mode
One UI 7 makes using the phone’s home screen in landscape mode much easier. The app icons are now larger in One UI 7 beta 1 as compared to the previous small app icons and labels on One UI 6.
New Recent Apps Panel
The Recent Apps or App Switcher screen now lets you easily swipe through the currently open apps. This new animation lets you switch between apps quickly. You can also see your recent app icons at the bottom of the app switcher screen.
App Drawer Search Bar at the Bottom
With one UI 7 beta 1, you no longer need to reach the top of the screen to search for anything on your device. The bottom placement of the search bar simply means you can simply use your thumbs and search right away.
New Quick Actions Icon in the Camera App
All of your favorite toggles and options which were previously at the top of the Camera app on One UI 6 are placed into a small menu at the bottom of the viewfinder. This bottom placement lets you easily switch and toggle any camera action with just your thumbs.
Dark Mode App Icons and Widgets
You can now choose to set between light and dark modes for your app icons and widgets on the home screen. The Color pallet option is still present in case you prefer to let all of your app icons have the same color.
Closing Up
These new features have made it to the new On UI 7 beta 1 update for Samsung Galaxy smartphones. Of course, many of these features can change over time, while the stable One UI 7 updates get released after the launch of the Galaxy S25 series.
