Samsung is still working on the Android 15-based One UI 7 update. Fortunately, we already have some idea of what to expect with One UI 7. While we have been hearing about some major additions, one feature removal has also been confirmed.
According to a recent notice issued via the Samsung members app (via @theonecid), Samsung will remove one of the cool functions with the One UI 7 update. Edge Panels will no longer be available for users to download from the Galaxy Store after updating Galaxy phones to the One UI 7 update.
Edge panel is a tool that let users create or add shortcuts for certain apps and controls, which can be accessed by swiping the edge line (appears when enabled). If you use this feature on your Galaxy phone, you should know every detail about its future.
Edge Panels downloaded before the One UI 7 update will remain on the device as long as the user don’t uninstall Edge Panel from their device. But once deleted, you will not be able to download it again. This applies to both free and paid Edge Panels.
So, if you don’t want to lose your Edge Panels you downloaded, don’t delete the Edge Panel unless necessary or you can avoid updating your phone to One UI 7. Also make sure to download Edge Panels that you like before One UI 7 update to continue using them.
If you are switching to another Galaxy phone running One UI 7 and newer, you can download Edge Panels that you previously installed on your old phone from the ‘My Apps’ section via the Galaxy Store.
Edge Panels will continue to be available for download from Galaxy Store on One UI 6.1.1 or older. If you haven’t tried edge panels yet, you should give it a try before the One UI 7 update. To download Edge Panels go to Settings > Display > Edge Panels > Panels > Galaxy Store.
You’ll still be able to use the Edge Panel on your phone, but you won’t be able to download Edge Panels from Galaxy Store.
