Oppo releases Android 17 Beta 3 for Oppo Find X9 Pro

Summarize This Article:

Oppo has released the third beta of Android 17 for its flagship Find X9 Pro smartphone. In March, the company initiated the beta testing of Android 17, and now is the time for the first incremental upgrade. We can expect the update to add a fresh set of features, enhancements, and bug fixes.

The Oppo community team officially shared this news on its forum, and as per the details, this build is adapted to the latest Google GMS package. Similar to the previous release, the beta is intended for developers and advanced users who are comfortable working with custom ROMs. If you have not flashed a phone before, I strongly recommend waiting for the open beta or stable release to avoid bricking your device.

Despite being an incremental update, the third Android 17 beta for the Oppo Find X9 Pro still carries a number of known issues that are yet to be addressed. Check out the complete list of known issues.

  • Bluetooth usage issue. (Recovery Path: Settings – Apps – App management – The three dots in the upper right corner – Show system – Bluetooth – Storage usage – Clear data)
  • Device Connect lacks certain functionality or has other issues in some scenarios.
  • Display abnormalities, lag, stuttering, etc., occur in some system applications and settings.
  • Certain system applications and settings may encounter issues, such as display glitches, black screens, no response, or become unusable, etc.
  • Camera display issues in some scenarios.
  • Some 3rd-party compatibility issues.

Oppo says that the Android 17 beta 3 released by Oppo is compatible only with the Find X9 Pro. You should understand there’s a risk of bricking your smartphone in sideloading this build. If your phone is running on any of these build versions: 16.0.3.504 / 16.0.5.701 / Android 17 Beta 2, you can update to Beta 3. If it is running on older software, please update.

Before updating your device, make sure to charge it to at least 30%, and 4GB of free storage is required. The update is only compatible with unlocked variants and will not work with carrier variants.

Before doing anything else, take a backup by navigating to Settings > Additional settings > Back up & migrate > Local backup > New backup > Done. You can find the backup stored in this location: Device storage/Android/data/com.coloros.backuprestore/Backup. Copy the file to another device.

When done, you need to download the Android 17 beta 3 update file from the Oppo Community Forum. While downloading the file, please match the software version and region. Once downloaded, follow below steps to install the update:

  1. Download the Android 17 Beta 3 zip and copy it to your phone’s storage.

  3. Now go back to Settings > About device > tap the top card > tap the button in the top right corner > Local install.
  4. Select the Android 17 Beta 3 zip file you copied over and extracted. Once extraction finishes, tap Install.
  5. When it’s done, tap Restart.
