Samsung Galaxy phones that won’t get the One UI 8 update

Along with rolling out the One UI 7 update for its devices, Samsung is also preparing for One UI 8 so that it can release the next update on time. As confirmed by Samsung, the One UI 8 rollout will begin this summer.

As with every new One UI upgrade, some devices will be excluded from One UI 8 compatibility. Since Samsung hasn’t officially released an eligibility list, we’ll rely on the official update policy to check which Galaxy phones won’t get the One UI 8 update. Samsung will provide the official list during the official rollout this summer.

One UI 8: Unsupported Galaxy Devices List

In the list, we will only include devices that were eligible for One UI 7 but are not eligible for One UI 8. It’s evident that devices that are not eligible for One UI 7 won’t be eligible for One UI 8.

  • Galaxy S21+
  • Galaxy S21 Ultra
  • Galaxy Z Fold 3
  • Galaxy Z Flip 3
  • Galaxy A14

Alternatives

If your device isn’t eligible for Android 16/One UI 8, but you still want to experience the latest updates, the only option is to use custom ROMs.

However, not many devices have active custom development like custom ROMs, so this may not work for all devices. If this doesn’t work, then other option is to get a different device that support One UI 8.

One UI 8 is expected to be a smaller update compared to One UI 7, so don’t expect a big changelog. However, it will bring various improvements, particularly those that Samsung overlooked in the One UI 7 update.

As per leaks, the One UI 8 update will bring improved animations, new charging animation, Now Brief, blurred background in many pages, new UI for several stock apps, and more.
