Early this week, Samsung kicked off the stable One UI 8.5 rollout for the Galaxy S24 series and Fold 6 in mainland South Korea, which was later extended to the US. Now, we’ve got fresh details on when the update is reaching older phones in Canada. If you own the Galaxy S24, S23, or even an A-series phone, your phone will receive the anticipated update starting next week.
As per the information shared by Canadian mobile network carrier Telus, Samsung will kick-start the One UI 8.5 rollout in Canada on May 17 with the Galaxy S24 series and Galaxy Z Flip / Fold 6. The update will be released for Galaxy A37 and A57 on May 20. Whereas, the Galaxy S23 series, Fold / Flip 5, and Galaxy A56 will pick up the update on May 23.

The carrier didn’t mention the exact version details; instead, they referred to optimizations and security updates. They typically refer to incremental One UI updates as “optimizations and security updates.”
One UI 8.5 is one of the most anticipated updates, as it brings a host of new features and improvements. It also introduces some Galaxy S26 AI features for older Galaxy devices. If you’re wondering what’s new, it brings a redesigned interface, new and improved Galaxy AI, improved Camera, more customization options, and more.
Now, if you own the Galaxy S24, S23, Fold / Flip 5 or Fold / Flip 6, or even Galaxy A56, A37, or A57, you can check for the One UI 8.5 update by going to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install. Before installing the new update, always back up important data and ensure to install the update in a cool temperature.
If the One UI 8.5 update hasn’t arrived on your device, you’ll need to wait for its OTA update, as it is rolling out in batches.
