After weeks of rumors and leaks, Motorola has officially confirmed the launch date of its new Razr foldable smartphone. The 2024 edition is set to debut on June 25 and as per the leaked specs, the new phones are coming with Android 14 OS. However, the Razr phones from last year have not yet received the Android 14 update, despite the update being released over seven months ago.
Motorola commenced Android 14 testing for the Razr+ in March through its Motorola Feedback Network (MFN) beta program. The update is currently available to testers and there’s no word on the public release.

Android 14 was officially released to the public by Google on October 4, 2023. As of today, the update has become widely available on devices from Samsung, Sony, Asus, OnePlus, Google, and many other Android phones and tablets.
When it comes to Motorola, the update is already available for over a dozen eligible devices, including the Moto Edge 30 series, Moto Edge 40 Series, several G Series phones, ThinkPhone, and more. But the company’s top-tier smartphone from 2023 is still awaiting for its first major software upgrade.
Both Motorola Razr+ (Razr 40 Ultra) and Razr (Razr 40) are eligible to receive the Android 14 update. Motorola promised to offer โthree major Android updates and four years of security patchesโ to the Razr phones.
Over the past few years, we have witnessed a decline in Motorola’s software support. Last year’s performance was sluggish, and there have been no noticeable improvements in the company’s efforts to enhance the situation.
The most recent update Motorola released for the foldable is the May security update seeding in European countries, here’s a screenshot shared by a Razr 40 Ultra user from Serbia. While the rollout is ongoing, we can’t expect the Android 14 update coming to the foldable anytime soon.
