After rolling out the release candidate of iOS 18.1, Apple has begun the beta testing iOS 18.2. The first beta of iOS 18.2 is now rolling out to developers with more Apple Intelligence features.

iOS 18.1, the update set to introduce Apple Intelligence to eligible iPhones, is scheduled to arrive next week. However, the first big update wonโ€™t include every AI features Apple has planned for iPhone. Apple is reserving some for other upcoming updates such as iOS 18.2.

Today Apple has released iOS 18.2 Beta 1 along with a few other updates including iPadOS 18.2 Beta 1, and macOS Sequoia 15.2 Beta 1. Apple hasnโ€™t started beta testing for the next tvOS and watchOS updates yet.

The iOS 18.2 Beta 1 comes with 22C5109p build number which is also same for iPadOS 18.2 Beta 1. Since this is the first beta, it’s quite big weighing over 6GB for almost every eligible iPhone.

iOS 18.2 Beta 1 Features

Talking about changes and new features, the update page obviously doesnโ€™t mention anything except for the old info same as the iOS 18.1. However, this is the first beta meaning you will find interesting new features and improvements.

As the update has been just released, it may take time to explore all the changes. Once I find all the new features and changes, I will add them below on the list.

  • The update brings Image Playground that let you create your own images
  • Genmoji let you create custom emojis based on descriptions and phrases
  • Siri can now utilize ChatGPT for certain requests on userโ€™s approval
  • New Mail app with Apple Intelligence additions

The availability of these features varies by device and region.

The iOS 18.2 Beta 1 is currently available to developers, but soon it will be available to beta users. If you want to join the beta testing, you can easily do so from the update page that you will find going to Settings > General > Software Update.
