Apple recently released the fifth beta of iOS 18, which brings some new features and changes including Hide Distracting Items in Safari. This is a useful addition to the Safari browser, which gives users control to remove annoying items from web pages. Here you will learn how to use the Hide Distracting Items feature in Safari on iPhone.
As of now, this feature is available to iOS 18 beta users, and it will be available to everyone with the public build in September. So if you don’t want to install the beta update, you don’t have to wait too long.
The new Hide Distracting Item feature lets you remove any element from a webpage that you find distracting. It can be an Ad, Image, Video, or Paragraph, you can remove anything you want. We have tested it, and it is working as expected.
You may have seen annoying video Ads that play automatically and cover a third of the screen, you can remove this too with the hide distracting items feature. Now that you know what the Hide distracting items feature is, let’s move on to how to use it.
How to use Hide Distracting Items feature on Safari
To use this feature, your iPhone should be running on iOS 18 beta 5, or later. It will also be available on iOS 18 for the public.
- Open the Safari browser on your iPhone.
- Go to the webpage you want to visit.
- Tap the menu icon near available in the address bar below.

- Now in the webpage tap on the item you want to hide. Then you will see the Hide button, tap the button.
- Whoosh, the item will disappear instantly.
- After removing all items you want, tap the Done option.
If you accidentally hide an item, you can tap the Cancel button instead of Done. The disappearing animation is so cool that you can easily tell it’s an Apple feature. When it comes to animations, Apple nails it.
Now if you want to bring back items that you’ve hidden, you’ll need to follow the same process.
Tap on the Menu icon in the address bar and then choose “Show hidden items” option. This will bring back the hidden items from the webpage.
