Microsoft has been working on the new Phone Link app for the past few months. Initially, the feature was limited to select users in Windows Insider Preview Program. Today, Microsoft announces the new Phone Link app for all users on Windows 11. For the time being, the feature is currently in a rolling phase and will be available to everyone by mid-May.
With this new feature, you can stay focused on your work on your Windows 11 PC. You won’t have to worry about missing a single notification or phone call from your iPhone. The new Microsoft Phone Link app goes live to a global audience in 39 languages across 85 markets. The feature uses Bluetooth to make a stable connection between your iPhone and PC, thanks to Microsoft for bringing the iOS / Windows PC connection app.

How to Connect iPhone to Windows 11 using Phone Link
Although the new Phone Link app is available to everyone on Windows 11, there are prerequisites to consider, one of which is owning an iPhone that runs on iOS 14 or a newer version. Another notable thing is to make sure that your PC has Bluetooth, yes, the feature uses Bluetooth to make a connection between two devices, so turn it on.
Note: You can not connect your iPad with your Windows 11 PC using the Phone Link app.
Before moving to the step-by-step guide on linking the two devices, first, you need to update or install the latest version of the Phone Link app on your Windows 11 PC. Here are the steps.
- Firstly, open the Microsoft Store on your Windows 11 PC.
- Click on the Library icon at the bottom left corner.
- Select the Get Updates button, you will get the Phone Link app update. (If the app is not available on your PC, then you can search Phone Link in the Microsoft Store and install it.)
- Simply wait to install the new app update.
- That’s it.
Now you have the latest Phone Link app installed on your Windows 11 PC, you can begin linking your iPhone to your PC. As I said earlier the new feature is gradually rolling out to everyone, you will see the iPhone option highlighted in the app if you receive the new feature’s access on your Windows 11 PC.
I got the new feature on my system and it works fine for me, here’s how I connect my iPhone with my Windows 11 PC. Check out the steps.
- Open the Microsoft Phone Link app on your PC.
- Click on the iPhone button.
- Scan the QR code to pair the iPhone with your PC. You can open the QR scanner from the control center or simply scan using the camera app.
- It will ask you to install the Phone Link (Companion) app on your iPhone, you can easily install it from the App Store.
- Open the app on your iPhone, scan the QR, and pair both devices.
- In the next step, it will show the instructions to grant access to contacts and messages. You can follow on-screen instructions to do it.
- Once paired, you can click the calls option to see the dialer, call logs, and make a call.
- In the Messages section, you can see all recent conversations, basically, the iMessage for Windows is finally here with select limitations.
- Once all is done. You will start receiving all of your iPhone’s notifications on your Windows PC.
- That’s it.
iMessages on Windows is here but with some limitations. Microsoft says, “Messaging feature is limited by iOS. Image/video sharing and group messaging is not supported. Messages are session based and will only come through when phone is connected to PC.”
