Hello UI vs My UX: Exploring major changes in Hello UI

Photo of author

One of the best decisions Motorola has made in recent years is releasing the new UI called Hello UI for its phones. This is not just a name change, but a huge upgrade over My UX. Hello UI comes with the feel of stock Android but with better optimization. When using it on a budget phones, it feels like you are using a Premium device.

Here we will talk about the best changes in Hello UI that make it a huge upgrade from My UX. Before that, I would like to inform you that Hello UI is currently available only on new Motorola phones launched since Edge 50 Pro. Now let’s see the major changes that you will see in Motorola’s Hello UI.

What’s New in Hello UI

Cool Boot Animation

You will feel Hello UI is good from the start. When you turn on your Hello UI powered phone, you will see a new boot animation featuring Hello UI text followed by the Motorola logo with stunning animation. Motorola has done an amazing job optimizing the animations and the new UI.

Redesigned Settings and Apps

Settings as well as many stock apps now have a new appealing interface that looks much better than My UX. You will notice this change almost every page such as About Phone, System Updates, and many other pages/apps. The new design looks great and they seem to favor the one-hand operation. The redesign makes the phone look premium and clean.

These are some screenshot showing UI changes, but you will see the same style in every settings page and stock apps.

New Control Center

You get to choose between two UI for the Control Center aka Quick Settings layout. For me, the layout set by default looks better. It is a refined version of the Quick settings panel from stock Android. The translucent background makes the panel amazing. After seeing it for the first time, everyone would want Quick Settings like this.

Motorola calls the second control center called Modern Style, which is a mix of different control centers such as iOS. It is highly customizable but leaves a cheap impression.

Generative AI Wallpaper

Motorola’s Hello UI comes with many wallpaper customization features and one of them is Made with AI Feature. With this feature, you can generate new unique wallpapers based on a photo (you can take a photo or choose from Gallery). However, this is my least favorite of all the new additions as it has various limitations. For instance, it doesnโ€™t generate cool wallpapers. They donโ€™t match my taste, but the choice is subjective.

Add filters to your Wallpaper

I donโ€™t like Generative AI wallpaper, but this feature is great. Just like iOS, you can add an color filters such as black and white, and other filters. This feature can turn bad wallpapers into good ones. However, it doesnโ€™t work well with all wallpapers as some turn out bad. So check all the filters until you find the suitable filter for your wallpaper.

Plenty of Lock Screen Customization

Lock Screen gets a huge upgrade with Hello UI. You can customize almost every element on the lock screen such as Clock faces, styles, fonts, widgets, shortcuts, notification icons, and more. This will let you enjoy every wallpaper without any compromise.

Which is better Hello UI or My UX?

Hello UI is not just about visual changes; it also brings many new features along with fluid animations. I really like the new Hello UI compared to the My UX. Hello UI has a modern design and feel, so if you prefer this kind of UI, then this one is for you. As always, the choice is subjective and depends on user preference.

Will it come to older Motorola phones?

Motorola has mentioned that currently, the Hello UI will only come to new phones. As the company has used the word currently, there are slight chances that Motorola could bring Hello UI to older phones. But donโ€™t get your hopes up. Once Motorola plans to bring Hello UI to devices running My UX, we will give you heads up.

Hello UI was introduced with Motorola Edge 50 Pro. And Motorola devices launched after that run on Hello UI.

I would suggest that Motorola bring the new UI to older phones if they want to retain their customer base. Because why would anyone choose them, if they donโ€™t cater to users who own only a few month old phone?
