Nothing is still a relatively young smartphone brand, yet it already has a sub-brand of its own called CMF. The sub-brand was introduced just a couple of years after Nothing’s debut. Nothing has since launched two CMF phones and was expected to unveil a new model later this year.
However, according to recent comments from Nothing’s co-founder, Akis Evangelidis, the company has decided to cancel its planned CMF smartphone release for this year. This means that no new CMF phone will launch in 2026.
Nothing was actively working on the successor to the CMF Phone 2 Pro, but due to the current soaring memory prices, they have decided to cancel the CMF Phone 3 Pro. If they launch the device with higher pricing wouldn’t make sense as CMF phones are supposed to be budget- friendly.
CMF was created to offer devices at significantly more affordable prices than Nothing’s main product lineup. However, if due to increased memory prices, Nothing increases the price of a CMF phone, it would not be good for its sub-brand reputation.
CMF is well known for offering great specs for the money, distinctive design, and affordable pricing. The CMF Phone 2 Pro has also been acknowledged as the best budget phone from various popular creators.
While it’s confirmed that there will be no CMF Phone launch in 2026, Nothing has recently hinted that we might soon see a new Nothing Phone. Before the cancellation, the CMF Phone 3 Pro was expected to come with Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, a 120Hz AMOLED display, a 5500mAh battery, 45W charging, and a 50+50+8MP rear camera setup. However, these leaks are now irrelevant, and Nothing could use these features into its upcoming Nothing phones.
