Apple releases iOS 14.5 Beta 5 and iPadOS 14.5 Beta 5

Apple never compromises with its regular updates at least for beta testers. And today the company pushed another iOS 14.5 beta update that makes a total of five betas in the iOS 14.5 beta list. Many of us were hoping for the iOS 14.5 release candidate this week, but it looks like we have to wait for another week. The latest iOS 14.5 Beta 5 and iPadOS 14.5 Beta 5 updates are available for iPhones and iPads respectively. Here you will know what’s new in the iOS 14.5 Beta 5 & iPadOS 14.5 Beta 5.

The update is basically released for bug fix purposes and so you will find it as a small update with minor changes. iOS 14.5 and iPadOS 14.5 are in beta phases for quite a while now, and soon it will be released for everyone. It is a big update in the iOS 14 iteration after the iOS14 release. The iOS 14.5 beta 5 and iPadOS 14.5 beta 5 updates are currently available for developers but soon it will be available for public testers as well.

Along with iOS 14.5 beta 5 and iPadOS 14.5 beta 5, Apple also released macOS Big Sur 11.3 Beta 5, tvOS 14.5 Beta 5, and watchOS 7.4 Beta 5. Both iOS 14.5 and iPadOS 14.5 Beta 5 updates are available with build version 18E5186a. And the last update also ended with ‘a’. It means the release candidate should have been released this week, but it looks like users need to wait for another week for the final release.

Now if we talk about changes and what’s new in the update, then there isn’t much to talk about. This is a small update which fixes some known bugs. If your iPhone has any bugs then you can expect it’s fixed in the latest iOS 14.5 beta 5 and iPadOS 14.5 beta 5 updates.

There is also some change in Settings where now you will see ‘Download iOS/iPadOS Updates’ & ‘Install iOS/iPadOS Updates’ under the Automatic Updates section. Till the last beta, it was available with the option ‘Download New Updates’. It means you can control the update process.

The update is available to developers and soon it will also be available to public testers. So, if you are a beta tester and already using the iOS 14.5 Beta 4 or iPadOS 14.5 Beta 4, then you can expect the update to be available directly on your phone. You can check for the update manually by going to Settings > Software Update. Tap on Download & Install button to get the latest update on your iPhone/iPad.

But in case if your iPhone or iPad running on a public build, then you will not receive the update. And so, you need to install the beta profile to get the update on your iDevice.

Install iOS 14.5 Beta Profile and iPadOS 14.5 Beta Profile

  1. Go to the Apple Beta Software program site.
  2. Then scroll down a bit and click on Sign in if you have Apple ID.
  3. On the next page, select the correct OS for your devices like iOS 14 or iPadOS 14.
  4. Scroll down till Getting Started and click on Enroll your iOS device.
  5. Now you need to install a profile from the next Page. For this, click on the Download Profile.
  6. After installing the Profile, reboot your device. And you are ready to install iOS 14.5 beta 5 on your iPhone.

After installing the beta profile, you can go to Settings > Software Update to install the latest update on your iPhone or iPad. You can also install iOS 14.5 Beta 5 with the full IPSW file using Finder or iTunes.
