Apple releases iOS 18.2 Beta 2 to Developers with performance tweaks

Apple has released the second beta of iOS 18.2 with some changes and upgrades. iOS 18.2 will be the second big update to iOS 18. Apple began testing iOS 18.2 two weeks ago. And after a week gap, iOS 18.2 Beta 2 has been released.

iOS 18.2 is expected to be released to the public early next month. This means we could see betas every week from this week until the public release.

The first beta added a bunch of Apple Intelligence features, and the second beta added some minor features as well as improvements to those already available.

Along with the iOS 18.2 Beta 2, Apple also released iPadOS 18.2 Beta 2, watchOS 11.2 Beta 1, tvOS 18.2 Beta 1, macOS Sequoia 15.2 Beta 2, and visionOS 2.2 Beta 1. The second beta of iOS 18.2 comes with build number 22C5125e which is also same for iPadOS.

The update size vary based on your device and current update. Switching from iOS 18.1 may require at least 6GB, so make sure to use WiFi for updating your device.

iOS 18.2 Beta 2 – What’s New

Now let’s talk about what’s new in the update. You can find all the changes on the list below.

  • ChatGPT extension under settings now shows limit on free plan, users can upgrade directly from the settings
  • Users can see the prompt they used to generate a genmoji by long pressing on the genmoji
  • New Modem Update for network and connectivity
  • Settings icon now match the color scheme of icons in the home screen in light mode
  • The updated Email design is now available on all iOS 18 eligible models but without AI features
  • Users can add Type to Siri in control center on older devices without expecting AI features
  • With Find My users can share the location of lost AirTag with with an Airline or a trusted person
  • Two new options for Camera Control light press

The iOS 18.2 Beta 2 is currently available to developers, but it will be available to public testers soon. If you like to try beta updates before the public release, you easily opt for beta by going to Settings > General > Software Update > Beta updates. One thing to note is that beta updates can have minor as well as major bugs.
