After rolling out stable Android 12 update for F21 Pro 5G, and Reno7 5G, today Oppo has started rolling out stable Android 12 update for Oppo A55 and Oppo A16. In the first week of this month, Oppo shared the Android 12 roadmap for July. And according to the roadmap, both Oppo phones are getting the update in time. Here’s everything you need to know about Android 12 for Oppo A55 and Oppo A16.
Both Oppo A16 and Oppo A55 were released last year with Android 11 OS. Last month in June, Oppo released the Android 12 beta program for both phones. And exactly a month later the stable Android 12 update for Oppo A16 and Oppo A55 is here.
The Android 12 is a major update for both Oppo phones and it measures over a GB. It also brings a bunch of new features and changes. These features include a new inclusive design, 3D textured icons, adopts Android 12-based widgets, new features for AOD, new privacy controls, and many other features. Oppo also packed its skin with a big list of aesthetic wallpapers, you can download these walls right here. Apart from these changes, we can expect an updated security patch upgrade.
Android 12 for Oppo A55
The latest stable Android 12 based ColorOS 12 for Oppo A55 is rolling out in India & Indonesia. It will be available to other regions soon. If you are an Oppo A55 user then make sure your phone is running on version A.15/A.18 to receive the Android 12 OTA update which comes with version C.26.
Android 12 for Oppo A16
Coming to the Android 12 update for Oppo A16, the OTA update is currently rolling out in India & Indonesia and other regions are expected to get the update later. The Android 12 based ColorOS 12 for Oppo A16 comes with version C.26. To receive the latest update your phone must be updated to version A.15/A.17.
How to Update
If you are a stable Android 11 user, then you must update your Oppo phone to the detectable version mentioned above. But in case you are already using the Android 12 Beta, then you don’t have to be on the mentioned version.
The Android 12 OTA update is rolling out in batches which means the update will be available to a batch of users at a time. You can check for the update manually by going to Settings > Software Update. And once you see the update, tap on Download and Install button.
Before updating your phone to Android 12, make sure to take a full backup of your device and charge it to at least 50%.
