Just after rolling out the stable One UI 8.5 update globally for the Galaxy S25 series, Samsung has officially announced the Android 17-based One UI 9 Beta Program for the Galaxy S26 series. Alongside the announcement, the company has also revealed some of the major features coming with the One UI 9 update.
As usual, the beta program will be limited to select regions, including Germany, India, Korea, Poland, the UK, and the US. Galaxy S26 users in these regions will be able to register for the One UI 9 Beta program later this week. The process for joining the beta program remains the same as previous years. You’ll need to apply through the Samsung Members app.
Samsung has also highlighted that One UI 9 will introduce advanced AI-powered features designed to make mobile interactions more seamless and effortless.
As for the new features coming with One UI 9, the update is confirmed to include new tools in Samsung Notes, an updated Quick Panel, adjustable Mouse Key speed, and a new Text Spotlight feature. Here are the upcoming features in detail:
- Samsung Notes: It gets some new tools like decorative tapes and extra pen styles for more creative note-taking.
- Creative Studio in Contacts: Create personalized profile cards directly inside the Contacts app without switching apps.
- Quick Panel: Brightness, sound, and media player are each independently adjustable.
- Combined TalkBack Package: Samsung and Google accessibility features are now combined in one package.
- Text Spotlight: Selected text will appear larger or more clearly in a floating window.
- Stronger app security: One UI 9 can detect risky apps, warn users, and block installation/execution.
- More Galaxy AI features: Samsung didn’t reveal them.
If you have a Galaxy S26 device and reside in the mentioned regions, prepare to join the journey of the next update, One UI 9. Since this will be the early build, make sure you’re aware of both the benefits and compromises before registering for the beta program.
An important note is to back up your device before installing the update.
