Nothing, the smartphone company founded by Carl Pei in 2021, has revealed a brand-new smartphone with a new name. Instead of going with the usual letter A naming the brand has now revealed that there will be a new smartphone with the letter B.
On the 24th of June, Nothing had sent out emails to everyone subscribed to their marketing about the reveal of their brand-new smartphone – the Nothing Phone 4b. The email contained sketches of the Nothing Phone 4b’s rear camera setup.
From the sketches, it looked like the Phone 4b would be coming with a single camera setup. However, these sketches clearly show a dual camera setup at the rear. The camera bump also houses the LED flash and a number of sensors.
The camera island has been taken from the Nothing Phone 4a Pro, and the Glyph light comes from the Nothing Phone 4a. The whole camera island or the camera bump on the Nothing Phone 4b comes with Nothing’s clear/translucent design language.
The Nothing Phone 4b has a unibody design and has been revealed via official renders in a nice light blue color. Improvements in the durability and structural strength play a key role in how the Nothing Phone 4b feels in the hand, making it comfortable to hold when using the device for extended periods. For their new phone, the brand has decided to balance between the design aesthetics and everyday usage.
Specs-wise, the Nothing Phone 4b will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 and will be equipped with 8 gigs of RAM. With the model number being A009P, the Nothing Phone 4b will be below its mid-range 4 series siblings, identifying that the device will be targeted towards a specific budget bracket.
There are no details as to why Nothing chose the letter B for its new smartphone, and according to their marketing email, they teased between the letter representing their official store in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, or if it was something to do with the sequel of a new movie.
Nothing plans to reveal the Phone 4b on the 7th of July at 3:30 PM IST. This is also when we could see the prices, storage options, and when the device is expected to go on sale officially. We could also see other accessories and products from Nothing being revealed alongside the Phone 4b.
