iPhone 18 Pro models to feature advanced LTPO+ OLED displays

Summarize This Article:

The upcoming iPhone 18 Pro devices are rumored to feature under-display Face ID, and a new report indirectly supports this claim. A new report from ETNews says that the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro models will feature advanced LTPO+ OLED display.

The current iPhone 17 Pro models feature LTPO Super Retina displays produced by BOE. By switching to the advanced LTPO+ panels, Apple can implement the under-display Face ID using the UDIR technology. This also allows to place cameras behind the panel without compromising the camera quality.

Samsung and LG will supply LTPO+ panels to Apple for the iPhone 18 Pro models, as reported, since BOE is unable to meet the demand for advanced displays. Additionally, Apple will use Samsung’s foldable OLED display for its first foldable device.

This year, Apple will only release two iPhone 18 models: the iPhone 18 Pro and the iPhone 18 Pro Max. The base model along with the iPhone 18e, is expected to launch early next year. While it’s not confirmed yet, Apple might continue using the LTPO panel from BOE for the iPhone 18 and 18e.

Recently, iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max specifications were revealed in an investor report. However, the display technology was not detailed in the report. There have been rumors about the under-display Face ID, which align with today’s report about the use of LTPO+ in iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.

As per previous reports, the iPhone 18 Pro to feature a 6.3-inch display while Pro Max will have a 6.9-inch display. Both devices will be powered by the A20 Pro 2nm chipset and will come with 12GB DDR5 RAM. These iPhones will have a 48MP main camera with variable aperture, a 48MP periscope camera, and a 48MP ultrawide camera on the rear and on the front there will be an 18MP selfie camera.
