iOS 18 Beta 8 and iOS 18.1 Beta 3 released to Developers

Apple has started iOS 18.1 beta testing earlier than usual this year, likely due to the Apple Intelligence features Apple working to integrate into eligible iPhones. These AI features are planned to be released with iOS 18.1 which will be the first big update after iOS 18. So right now both iOS 18 and iOS 18.1 are in beta testing.

Today Apple released incremental betas for both iOS 18 and iOS 18.1. The iOS 18.1 Beta 8 could be the last beta because Apple will release the Release Candidate on September 9 followed by the Public release on September 16 or September 17.

While for iOS 18.1, this is only the third beta and we will see a few more beta builds before the update is available to the public.

The iOS 18.0 Beta 8 update is available with build number 22A5350a. And iOS 18.1 Beta 3 comes with build number 22B5034e. Both updates weigh differently depending on your iPhone model and last update.

iOS 18 Beta 8 Update

Talking about the changes, iOS 18 beta 8 is all about stability as the update is coming to the public early next month. Whereas you can expect notable changes and some feature additions in iOS 18.1 Beta 3. We will add the list of changes below after the beta update review.

iOS 18.1 Beta 3

  • Animation improvements in some default Apple apps
  • Summarize notification previews
  • Clean up tool in Photos app to remove objects from photos (buggy at the moment)

Both updates fixes a couple of bugs present in their last update.

Along with iOS 18.0 Beta 8 and iOS 18.1 Beta 3, Apple also released iPadOS 18 Beta 8, iPadOS 18.1 Beta 3, macOS 15.1 Beta 3, macOS 15 Beta 8, tvOS 18 Beta 8, HomePodOS 18 Beta 8, and visionOS 2 Beta 8.

If you are on iOS 17 and want to try iOS 18, I suggest you wait for the public release. iOS 18 will be released to the public on September 16 which is pretty close.

Those who already opted for the beta can download the update by going to Settings > General > Software Update.
