Instagram, the popular social media sharing platform owned by parent company Meta, has been getting many AI-related tools and features. Earlier, we saw how users could use Meta AI to generate images and get information about anything they might be interested in.
Now, as a way to get even more people into using meta AI in fun ways, Instagram has rolled out a new AI feature that lets you set the chat theme in the DMs by using text prompts. Yes, this is a fun feature that you can use to make your conversation screens more interesting to look at.
Change Instagram DM Themes with Meta AI
Now, this is a new feature that is rolling out to many Instagram users. I was able to get this feature working on the beta version of the Instagram app for Android. Changing the chat theme is easy, you just need to enter a prompt that will direct Meta AI to generate images which you can choose from and set as the chat background. Here are the steps.
- Launch the Instagram app and tap on the Messages icon in the top right corner,
- Now, select a conversation whose chat theme you would like to change.
- With the conversation screen open, tap on the person’s name at the top.
- Now, tap on Theme.
- The Theme pop-up will now be displayed.
- While there are many of these to pick from, you will see a block that says Create with AI.
- Tapping on it will bring up the Meta AI screen.
- Simply tap on the text box and insert your prompt.
- Once you have clicked on the white arrow icon, Meta AI will display the generated image.
- If you don’t like the image, simply tap on the regenerate icon.
- It will display a newly generated image based on the prompts you have given.
- Tap on Next to see a preview of the newly created theme.
- If you like it, tap on Create.
And that is how you can create AI themes that can be used as the background for your chats. Different chats can have different types of themes. As of now, you cannot tweak the style of the image after it has been generated, but we can hope that more settings will be made available for users in the future.
