How to Install Android 11 Stable GSI on Android Phones

Google has finally released the stable Android 11 for Pixel devices and soon it will go live for other devices. For now, only Pixel users can install the stable update via OTA. But don’t worry anyone with Android 11 GSI can experience Android 11. The only difference will be the installation procedure for GSI and OTA. Here you will know how to download and install Android 11 GSI on any Android phone.

We waited for months to experience the public Android 11 and now it is available but only for Pixel Phones. So for users with non-Pixel devices, I have a guide that will help you to get Android 11 on your phone. Yes, we are going to use the GSI for this process as Google has already released GSI files just like we received last year. If you are a constant follower of Android 11 then you must be aware of its new features. Android 11 brings some new and great features for easier controls and Faster performance. Again security is the main focus in Android 11 and Google has improved the Privacy to keep your data safe.

Download Android 11 Stable GSI

Google has this amazing feature called GSI that allows users to install and experience the latest Android OS even if they haven’t received the update from their vendor. And as Android 11 is out, you can install it to your phone with the GSI provided by Google itself. It has one limitation that your device must have treble support.

Thanks to Google for dropping the Android 11 GSI early. It is available for both ARM64 architectures as well as X86 architecture. The latest Android 11 GSI comes with Build Number RP1A.200720.009. Also, the Android 11 GSI brings the latest September security patch level. You can use the below links to download Android 11 GSI for all Android phones.

Android 11 GSI:

GMS in the above links mean they come with Google Mobile Services. It includes Google Play Services, Google Play Store, and more Google Apps. You can choose the GSI of your choice or depend on your region.

This is a GSI and not a stable OTA so you may find some bugs in the day to day usage. But that may not affect the usage if you have installed it correctly. In case if you trying the GSI for the first time and not aware of the installation process then you can follow the below guide.

How to Install Android 11 GSI on any Android phone

GSI will work on all the phones that come with treble support and its bootloader is unlocked. If you have the TWRP Recovery then it gets easier. But here in this guide, I will share the command method to install Android 11 GSI on any Android phone.

  1. Make sure the bootloader is unlocked on your phone. Also, take a full backup before starting the procedure.
  2. Install ADB and Fastboot driver on your PC. Download Platform Tools if you have macOS or Linux. Also, download the DM Verity disabler.
  3. Extract the GSI on the computer and make sure you have the System file in the extracted folder.
  4. Now turn off your phone and then boot into fastboot mode. And connect your phone to pc.
  5. Open a command window on your pc and navigate to the extracted platform tools.
  6. Then disable the verity boot using the disabler.
    • fastboot --disable-verification flash vbmeta vbmeta.img
  7. Now erase all the data along with the system image using the below command.
    • fastboot flash system system.img
  8. You can then reboot your phone.
  9. Now delete user data and clear the data by following the below command.
