Last week, Google announced three useful AI-powered features for Google Chrome. These features are AI-powered Google Lens, a product comparison tool, and an AI-powered history search tool. For the time being, these features are available to select users and will be gradually rolled out in phases.
If you’re in a hurry and want to access the AI-powered Google Lens feature on your browser, then here’s how you can activate and use Google Lens in Chrome.
The new powerful Google Chrome’s Lens feature functions similarly to the Circle to Search feature available on Pixel and other Android devices. With Google Lens, you can search for information related to various objects seen in photos and videos. Additionally, you can copy text from images and search for it or quickly translate it.
As mentioned previously, the feature is in a rolling phase and will be available to everyone in a matter of time. In case you want to access it right away, you can do it by enabling a simple flag in your Google Chrome on Desktop. Here’s how you can do it on your PC.
How to Activate AI-powered Google Lens in Chrome
First things first, ensure that Google Chrome is running on its latest official version, which is Version 127.0.6533.89 at the time of writing this article. You can update your browser easily by navigating to “chrome://settings/help” in Google Chrome. After updating, follow these steps to enable the powerful Google Lens feature.
Step 1: Open Google Chrome and Enter “chrome://flags/” in the address bar.
Step 2: Search for Lens Overlay and Enable the flag.
Step 3: Restart your browser.
How to Use All-New Google Lens with AI in Chrome on Desktop
With Lens Overlay Chrome flag, you can activate the new feature on your browser, now you can easily search for the information you’re looking for, all from images.
Step 1: Open Google Chrome and Click on the dots menu icon on the right side.
Step 2: Click on the Search with Google Lens option.
Step 3: For the first time, you will get a popup, simply click on Continue.
Start Searching from Images: Place the cursor on the object you want to search for, it will automatically analyze the object or you can do it manually by dragging the cursor. Not only this, but you can also add an additional query in the search box.
Pin the Google Lens Icon in the Address Bar: You can also pin the new Google Lens icon to the address bar.
Select Text and Search for it: The AI-powered Google Lens feature will also detect the text and look up for it, you can also copy the text or translate it.
