The fourth beta of Android 17 has arrived. Google has confirmed that this is the last beta of this release cycle, which means the stable Android 17 is up next. Since this is the last beta, it’s also the closest to the final stable build in terms of performance and stability.
The Android 17 Beta 4 update for Pixel devices comes with build number CP21.260330.008 and includes the April security patch. Given that its a incremental update, it is under 1GB if you’re upgrading from beta 3.
As for changes, Android 17 Beta 4 update mainly focuses on bug fixes, which is expected from the final beta release. The list of addressed issues in this beta update is huge. Here are all the fixes included in Beta 4:
- An issue where webpage URLs were automatically included when sharing screenshots from the capture preview, causing unwanted links to be shared with image files.
- An accessibility issue caused the device to become completely unresponsive and unusable.
- An issue where the media control widget could disappear or fail to navigate between multiple active media sessions.
- An issue where dream services failed to correctly process key events, trigger keyguard bouncer prompts, or execute service lifecycle callbacks.
- An issue that prevented users from successfully downloading and applying cinematic or local weather wallpaper effects.
- An issue where the device would freeze and spontaneously restart while typing in messaging applications.
- A critical system instability issue that causes the device to hang and crash during normal usage.
- An issue causing devices to experience significantly reduced charging speeds when approaching the 80% battery limit, resulting in long delays before the device reaches its target charge and enters bypass mode.
- A rendering issue that caused multicolored horizontal lines to randomly obscure the device display.
- Pulling down the notification drawer while a feedback report is in progress can cause a System UI crash and device freeze.
- Critical system components including Pixel Launcher and navigation may crash or become unresponsive for several minutes after a device reboot.
- An accessibility issue that prevents users from properly interacting with apps after minimizing and returning to a split-screen view.
- An issue that prevented Bluetooth from being re-enabled after it was turned off via the system settings or quick settings panel.
- Notifications marked with setSilent(true) may unexpectedly play alert sounds on Android 16 when multiple notifications are present in the shade.
- Wi-Fi analyzer applications fail to detect any available Wi-Fi signals, preventing network scanning and signal monitoring.
Android 17 Beta 4 update is available for Pixel 6 and newer models, as long as the device is already running an Android 17 beta build or is enrolled in the beta program. If you own an eligible device, make sure to back up your data before installing the beta update.
