Last month, Vivo announced its latest camera-centric S-series smartphone for mainland China. The new edition to the S-series is dubbed the Vivo S15 and Vivo S15 Pro. Vivo offers the new S15 with Snapdragon 870 SoC, and the S15 Pro with Dimensity 8100 chipset. Vivo S15 (Pro) – Details
At the time of writing, the new S-series phones are limited to China. Before moving to the next section, here’s your sneak peek at the specs of the new Vivo S15 and S15 Pro. Starting from the front, then the vanilla Vivo S15 features a 6.62-inch bigger panel, compared to the 6.56-inch panel on the Pro variant. The display on S15 Pro is Samsung’s new E5 AMOLED display with a peak brightness of 1500 nits, 120Hz refresh rate, and HDR10+ support. Vivo offers the new S-series models in 8GB and 12GB RAM variants with 128GB and 256GB storage onboard.
In terms of power, the Vivo S15 comes with the MediaTek Dimensity 8100 chipset, while the Pro variant boasts a more powerful Snapdragon 870 SoC and boots with OriginOS Ocean. Moving to the back, then the two phones are billed with a triple-lens camera setup. The Pro-variant houses a 50MP Sony IMX766V primary snapper customized by Vivo with an f/1.9 aperture and 1.0µm. The same sensor was used by Vivo in the recently launched Vivo X70 Pro. The camera module also features a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 2MP depth sensor. Moving to the front, then the Vivo S15 Pro dawns a 32MP shooter for selfies with f/2.5 aperture and AF support.
The two new Vivo S-series phones are bundled with a 4,500mAh battery, the vanilla S15 supports 66W charging speed, whereas the S15 Pro charges at a whopping 88W speed. Vivo offers the new S-series phones in Black, Blue, and Yello color options. Talking about the pricing, then the S15 Pro starts at CNY 3,400 (approx. $505 / €480 / ₹39,000).
