The Nothing Phone (3a) series, which includes the vanilla Phone (3a) and the Phone (3a) Pro, runs on the Nothing OS 3.0. The latest Android 15-powered skin brings many new customization features. However, many users still don’t know how to customize the home screen on their Nothing devices.
Customizing the home screen of your Nothing Phone 3a device can give it a personalized feel. You can customize different elements including icons, widgets, wallpapers, and more. Since the user interface supports the customization, here’s a comprehensive guide that will help you organize and personalize your device home screen.
Choose your desired icon pack (third-party supported)
Nothing OS 3.1 supports the third-party icon pack, which means you can choose from various popular icon packs based on your preference. You can use third-party apps without the need for any third-party launchers.
Nothing OS comes with two built-in icon options: Default and Nothing. You can choose either one based on your preference. Here’s how you can switch between icon packs on the Nothing Phone 3a series:
Step 1: Long press on the blank space in the Home screen.
Step 2: Now, click on the “Customization” section.
Step 3: Tap on “Icon Pack” and select your preferred one.
Adjust App Grid, App Label and Search Bar
You can adjust app grid options and enable/disable the app label and search bar on the Nothing OS accordingly. Adjusting the grid is akin to changing the room size to accommodate more apps. Here’s how you can do so:
Step 1: Long press on the home screen and select “Customization.”
Step 2: Click on “Layout.”
Step 3: You will now be able to select App Grid options and can enable/disable app labels and the search bar.
Change the icon and accent colors
The Nothing OS 3.0, by default, comes with the Material You theming enabled, which changes the accent color based on the currently applied wallpaper. However, you can further change this to give it a more personalized touch.
Step 1: Long press on the home screen and select “Customization.”
Step 2: Then click on the “Colors” option.
Step 3: You can now choose from custom basic colors or wallpaper colors. You can also enable the dark theme as well.
Install personalized wallpaper
You get a bunch of stock wallpapers on the Nothing OS. But they’re not very good and are very limited. You can checkout our our monthly wallpaper collectionย (YMWC), where we share some of the best sets of wallpaper for Android devices, iPad, iPhone and even PCs. You can download the one as per your preference and set it on the device.
Play with the widgets on Nothing OS
Nothing OS 3.0 brings plenty of new aesthetic-looking widgets. These widgets can be interacted with and look good on the screen. You can also enlarge the app folder to complement the widgets and add further personalization to the home screen.
Step 1: Long press on the home screen.
Step 2: Tap on “widgets.”
Step 3: Choose your preferred widget and drag and drop it to the home screen.
These are the few simple steps using which you can customize your home screen setup on the Nothing OS 3.0 running on the Nothing Phone 3a series, and can give it a personalized touch.
