How to connect Chromecast to a Hotel TV and WiFi

Staying at a hotel can be great especially when on a long journey. Now, most hotels out there will usually have a TV in each room that lets you watch cable TV Channels. For many people, watching cable TV in a hotel is fine, but if you are carrying your Chromecast you can connect it to Hotel TV to watch all your favorite content. Here is how to connect Chromecast to Hotel TV and WiFi.

What would you do if you don’t want to watch or catch up on your favorite shows on a big screen in a Hotel? The solution for this is to carry the Google Chromecast device which isn’t going to be a problem since it’s compact. While it sounds absurd to be traveling around with a Google Chromecast, it is only beneficial for those who like to watch their favorite shows on the go. In this guide, we will be talking about how you can connect your Chromecast to a Hotel TV.

How to Connect Google Chromecast to Hotel TV

Before we get into the steps on how you can connect your Chromecast to the Hotel TV, there are a few things that you might need.

Prerequisites

  • Chromecast device
  • Longer USB cable to power the Chromecast

The first and most important step is to check and see what kind of TV you have in your hotel room. If it’s one of those TVs that are basic but has an HDMI port, then you are good to go. However, if there’s something else connected to the HDMI input ports of your TV, you could simply unplug it and plug the Chromecast into the HDMI port. If your room’s hotel TV has no HDMI ports, well you will not be able to connect your Chromecast to the Hotel TV without using WiFi.

But if you are simply given the password, then Chromecast will be able to connect to your Hotel wifi.

Create a Wireless Hotspot

So, you know that your Google Chromecast device will not be able to connect to the login page for your wifi network, it’s time to improvise. So, for this, you can either use your Windows laptop or a mobile device that can share its wifi connection with other devices.

Connect Windows 10/11 Laptop to Hotel Wifi

On a Windows 10 or 11 PC, you will have to first connect your laptop to the hotel wifi.

  1. First, power up your Windows laptop and plug it into the power source.
  2. Now, you need to connect your laptop to the hotel’s wifi network.
  3. Once you connect to the network, your web browser will automatically open up.
  4. You will have to enter the username and password that was given to you at the reception desk.
  5. Once the Windows laptop has been connected to the hotel wifi, you will have to create a mobile hotspot on your laptop.

Create Mobile Hotspot on Windows 10/11 Laptop

Now that your Windows laptop has been connected to the hotel wifi, it’s time to create the mobile hotspot.

  1. Open the Start menu by pressing the Windows key on your keyboard.

  2. Once your phone has been connected to the hotel wifi and you are able to access the internet, you can create a Wifi Bridge.
  3. Open the Settings app and search for Wifi Sharing or Wifi bridge.
  4. When you find the option, select it and switch it on.
  5. You can also change the name and password for the bridge connection.

  4. Tap on the Device Info icon followed by Wifi and finally Forget this network.
  5. Once the network has been forgotten, the app will take you to the Homes screen.

  2. Make sure that your mobile phone is connected to the wifi network or the wifi bridge.
  3. The app will ask you to choose the device you plan to set up.
  4. Select Chromecast from the list. The app will begin to search for Chromecast devices that are nearby.
