With all the buzz around iOS 18, it is natural that many users may have forgotten about iOS 17. Those who prefer stability are still using iOS 17. Today, Apple just released a new beta for them. The second beta of iOS 17.6 is now available to developers.
The first beta was released two weeks ago, and now the second beta is available. Usually, Apple releases a beta every week, but since the company is also working on the iOS 18 beta simultaneously, we wonโt see regular iOS 17 beta updates.
Today, Apple also released iPadOS 17.6 Beta 2, watchOS 10.6 Beta 2, tvOS 17.6 Beta 2, macOS Sonoma 14.6 Beta 2, macOS Ventura 13.6.7 RC 2, macOS Monterey 12.7.6 RC 2, and visionOS 1.3 Beta 2.
The second beta of both iOS 17.6 and iPadOS 17.6 comes with build number 21G5061c. Based on the build number, we might see only one or two more beta updates before the iOS 17.6 RC release. As for the update size, it is around 6.27GB. Well, it can be different for you.
Talking about changes and new features, it’s clear there wonโt be any major new changes or new features in the iOS 17 beta update. This is because Apple has already begun the iOS 18 beta testing, and all the exciting new features will be reserved for the new upcoming update.
Still, there are some changes and improvements in the iOS 17.6 Beta 2. We will list them below once we find all the changes.
- New Modem update
- News Live activity related to your favorite sports team in dynamic island
- And other small changes
The new beta is available to everyone who is already on the first iOS 17.6 beta or has opted for the iOS 17 beta update. In case you are still on an iOS 17 build and want to try the beta, you can easily switch to the beta build in the Software Update settings.
However, those who have already switched to iOS 18 and want to test iOS 17 have only one option: downgrade. I advice not to downgrade if you already switched to iOS 18, because soon it will get a public beta which will be more stable.
