Today, Apple released iOS 12.5.5 for older iPhones and iPads. We are getting an iOS 12 update in a while. This is an important security update for devices that are not eligible for iOS 15. Earlier this month newer iPhones and iPads also received an important security update just before the iOS 15 release to the public. If you are an iPhone user which still supports iOS 12, then this update is important and recommended.
Apple is known for its better security and updates and this is an example. It’s good to see iPhones released about 5 years ago or even before are still getting updates, at least security updates. Talking about the eligibility, the list includes iPhone 5s, iPhones 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air, iPad Mini 2, iPad Mini 3, and iPod Touch 6th gen.
The latest iOS 12.5.5 security update comes with build number 16H62. Since this is only a security update, it weighs less than 100MB depending on the iPhone or iPad model you have. As we mentioned earlier, the update does not bring anything new which is obvious and only brings recommended security features
