Samsung starts testing One UI 9 (Android 17) build on Galaxy S26 series

Summarize This Article:

Samsung launched the Galaxy S26 series with One UI 8.5, a skin that is currently in its final testing phase for the Galaxy S25 series. Not only this, last week, the company announced a beta program for Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Fold 7.

Today, Samsung has begun internal testing of Android 17-based One UI 9 for the Galaxy S26 series, even as most users are still waiting for the One UI 8.5 stable rollout.

First spotted by Tarun Vats, the One UI 9 build for the Galaxy S26 series goes live with the BZC5 build number. Those who are familiar with Samsung’s software numbering, it’s easy to determine that it is the Android 17-based One UI 9. As per the details, the firmware is spotted on the Galaxy S26 Ultra (SM-S948B) and comes in at a size of 2.6GB.

Despite the internal testing going live, a public release is still a long way off. The beta program is anticipated to launch several months down the line, with the stable release expected to coincide with the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Flip 8.

Google recently released Android 17 Beta 2 for Pixel devices, after releasing the first beta last month. The update brings a range of improvements and new features to Android devices, including enhancements to app windowing, support for lock screen widgets, Live Notification updates, a redesigned desktop mode, and more.
