Google is all set to launch the next generation of the Pixel Watch, which will be named the Pixel Watch 3. Since Google has revealed that its Made by Google 2024 event will take place earlier than usual, the launch is not far off and will come with some notable changes.

This year’s Made by Google event has been advanced by two months from its usual October timeline. This builds hype and speculation about early product announcements, especially the much-anticipated Pixel Watch 3 and the 3 XL. Yes, this time Google is set to include a bigger watch in the lineup, meaning we will see two watches.

If you want to know about it, then you have landed to the right place. Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming Pixel Watch 3, including the release date, leaked specs, price, and more.

Pixel Watch 3 and 3 XL Release Date

Google is going to unveil its latest Pixel hardware inventions on August 13 at its annual Made by Google event. The company is planning to expand its product lineup, with four Pixel smartphones and two Pixel Watches. The Watch 3 lineup is expected to include the Pixel Watch 3 and 3 XL.

According to reports, the event will highlight Google AI, Android software, and the Pixel portfolio of devices. This suggests that the company will introduce the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL. Apart from this, the launch of the Pixel Watch 3 lineup and new Buds Pro is also expected.

The upcoming event will take place at Google’s headquarters in Mountain View, California, and will commence at 10 AM PT (1 PM ET or 10:30 PM IST). While the specific details of the live stream have not yet been shared by the company, the early date announcement has set high expectations.

Pixel Watch 3 and 3 XL Leaked Specs

The Pixel Watch 3 will feature a stunning 1.2-inch AMOLED display, the same as its predecessor. In terms of durability, the screen of the upcoming watch is designed to resist more scratches and impacts, all thanks to Corning Gorilla Glass protection. Moreover, the watch will maintain its sleek, minimalist aesthetic.

Alongside the Pixel Watch 3, the company is also said to introduce a new Pixel Watch 3 XL with a large 1.45-inch AMOLED screen and a thicker and larger body, which is expected to measure 45 x 45 x 13.89 mm.

The Pixel Watch 3 XL is expected to have a larger battery and an improved version of the carved leather band.

There is another leak that suggests that Google has filed a patent for the watch that runs on gestures without any buttons, and the article suggests Google is going to implement it on the Pixel Watch 3. However, this does not seem to be reliable because a patent does not guarantee that it will end up in a product.

Pixel Watch 3 Lineup Leaked Specs

Talking about the software, both the Pixel Watch 3 and 3 XL will come with Wear OS 5 out of the box. Also, Google I/O 2024 gave us a preview of some features coming to Wear OS 5, which we expect to debut on the Pixel Watch 3. Moreover, the company is said to add some AI features to their upcoming watch.

When it comes to the hardware of the watch, some leaks suggest that it will most probably include ultra-wideband (UWB) connectivity. Since the technology is used as a short-range wireless communication protocol to track the location of objects, this should improve the feature that lets users unlock their phone from a distance.

Currently, the Watch Unlock feature relies on a Bluetooth connection, and it’s likely to continue even with the Pixel Watch 3 in countries where UWB connectivity is banned.

Talking about the SoC, it’s expected to use the same Snapdragon W5 SoC that we have seen in the Pixel Watch 2. Moreover, the watch is also expected to have 2GB of RAM and 32GB of eMMC storage, the same as its predecessor.

Pixel Watch 3 and Watch 3 XL Design

The design of the Pixel Watch series will be simple. It will have a circular bezel-less watch face with a glass design in a steel frame, a crown on the side, and a watch strap similar to what we have seen in previous models.

Also, for the first time, we are getting two options because, as we all know, previous generations of watches lacked size options. To address the problem, the Pixel Watch 3 is coming in a 45 mm size along with the 41 mm option.

The two size ranges make the lineup a more attractive option to a wider audience, potentially allowing the brand to compete more successfully in the growing smartwatch industry.

It’s worth noting that the brand is still catering to those of us who like a smaller watch by continuing the original 41 mm size. So, the overall design of the Pixel Watch 3 looks similar to its predecessor, the Pixel Watch 2, and the same goes for the Watch 3 XL.

Pixel Watch 3 and 3 XL Price

Pricing for the Pixel Watch 3 is expected to be the same as for the previous watches, which were launched at $349 and $399, depending on whether someone wants LTE or not. So, the upcoming Watch 3 price will start at around $349 for the base model.

Coming to the Watch 3 XL, it could cost $379 and $429 for the Wi-Fi and LTE models, respectively. This means the larger XL model is $30 more expensive than the original one.

However, prices may vary depending on additional features and strap options. Google aims to offer competitive pricing while delivering top-notch technology.
